Why do so many people complain about postage fees after they have bid / paid for an item?
I never bid on anything without knowing the costs beforehand and if the p&p is "high" I lower my bid accordingly.
If I sell an item I don't have any scales to weigh it so I have to estimate the cost. If I underestimate it I lose money but if I'm over I make a little bit of profit which helps cover ebay fees etc, surely that is the same with everyone? On ebay most people seem to charge £1.50 for a single figure when the actual postage costs are more like 65p and 20p for the jiffy bag so that's a 65p profit and if you sell 10 figures £6.50!!! 8)
If you don't like the postage fee don't bid !!!
I couldnt' agree more!
I sell graded moc's on flebay and i only offer special delivery that way i am covered for up to £500 per item and totally protected from the scammers.
Remember guys insurance is for the sellers benefit not they buyers as paypal will refund them regardless!
Now i charge £7.95 postage to send a graded moc
If possible i use recycled boxes but sometimes i need to buy the box and i also buy bubble wrap and foam fillers to ensure maximum protection.
The box size and more importantly the density of the materials it is made of plus the internal packing will dictate the actual weight at the PO.
I have recently posted out a few graded moc's with a stamp price of £5.74 ranging to £8.94.
I never make any money on postage because even at lowest stamp price of £5.74 that leaves £2.69 to cover the bubble wrap the foam fillers, the box and an hour of my time to go to the post office.
Most times i am making a loss on postage and thats the truth.
Yet many buyers see the £7.95 postage to send a graded moc through the post and whinge instantly i find this incredible!!
I then say to them i can send the item in a Jiffy bag for £3.50 but only if they are prepare to pay via cheque and take reponsibility if the item is lost in the post or damaged.
Thats soon shuts them up!
