Ok guys, i know back on my laser disc thread, someone did say you can still buy the unedited original trilogy on dvd. Does anybody know if you can buy the unedited trilogy on bluray ???

Thanks pete, dont suppose they will ever get round to re-releasing it on bluray in its original format ???

Anyone heard any rumours???

If there was enough call for it i reckon Disney would do it. Lucas wouldn't have ever done it, again. The only DVD set with them available was released in the 90s and then never again. Disney really need to release a remastered (nothing added!) version of the original trilogy.
How ever many Star Wars fans there are in the world; that's how many DVDs they'd sell... plus a few extras.

There was a wild Internet rumour a few weeks back that Disney were looking at doing an original release on Bluray, I think one of the threads around here mentioned it, nothing substantiated though.

One interesting point was raised inthe article I read about it was that one of the reasons for Lucus not releasing them again was legal as much as creative. It seems that he and others have changed partners in the years since and any profit from a rerelease of the original films would see money goings to ex's whereas the 97 films are seen as new and not part of any Devorce settlement. No idea if it is true or not, seems a little ridiculous so I don't really believe but it could be one of those 'Hollywood myth' things :)
