I was thinking if you gave me 2 bottles of whiskey and put a ouija board in front of me I don't think I would go near it! So why is that I am thinking. I must believe something is there or around me.

If I remember correctly, a Ouija board was just a board game, released in shops. Hasbro own it I think

Maybe I have the wrong name for it. What was the Hasbro board game? Was it for adults or children? What was the aim of the game.
I ment the board with the letters that some claim can contact spirits of some kind.

Yes...it's the same thing. I think it started as a game that meant to show the power of group suggestion or something.

Time travel is impossible IMO! Yes time moves at different speeds depending on where you are, all be it a tiny difference. But their is only one Earth going around the sun and it is always moving through time at the same speed, so no matter how fast you travel when you returned to Earth you may not have aged but the Earth, solar system and galaxy has still evolved at the same speed as if you had stayed on Earth.

Unless their are infernet and identical universes where everything that has happened and is going to happen is constantly happening over and over again!

Little reference on the Ouija board....

Seen weird things in my lifetime, so i wouldn't rule the paranormal thing out. As far as other beings or lifeforms.. I would be stupid not to accept that as a huge possibility.

Alien attack. Nah! While I do believe there will be life somewhere out there I don't believe that we are at risk of meeting it any time soon. Space is massive. Really, really massive! Any civilization advanced enough to travel it within a reasonable enough time would probably have better things to do than bother with us.

Ghosts. Nah! I reckon we die and that's it. Like when the Terminator shuts down at the end of Judgement Day  Poltergeist 1&2 rule though :)

Time travel. Nah! (where's Lee Bullock when you need him!?). The notion of travelling back to 1978 and picking up a **** load of MOC's is never going to happen. As far as I know, even if you could physically shift back in time, chances are you would arrive in the middle of space somewhere in 1978 and not in your home town. The **** packed inside space moves about quite a bit so you would move back in time, space would not ...probably :?

Yeah I know it's does sound crazy :D Eninsein even stated it could be possible but I'm not gonna argue with him
It's not possible to go back but clocks on satellites run slightly faster for the GPS to work as they orbit the earth. You can't go back in time but his theory is if you can travel near the speed of light time will slow for you. So if a ship was possible to travel say for 2 years at that speed of light. Once it arrived back at earth time will have moved on more than 2 years. So for the crew on the ship they will be in the future. It would be impossible to reverse the time you lost though. Of course there is no vehicle which can travel at that speed yet.
Ok I'm gonna quit here because I'm digging myself into a deeper hole :? On something I am not sure on. I don't know why I started claiming time travel is possible
On the alien side of things is it safe to say "roswell" was a military experiment gone wrong? Or was there something else?

The mind is an all powerful thing. It's very capable of convincing it's owner of all sorts. It can be influenced by other people, drugs, hormones, emotion, PTSD etc etc. The placebo effect is a proven phenomenon of something having the desired effect on the subject if they are told it will have that effect. There is also the Nocebo effect, where a person is given a placebo and is told there will be side effects, and the person actually goes onto experience those side effects from simply their negative beliefs that it will.

I remember a little story about the possible reason we have beliefs/religion. Imagine there were 2 animals in a field, and they were both prey to a larger animal. There's a noise in the bushes, one of the prey bolts as it is convinced it's the predator. The other thinks "meh, probably just a bird or gust of wind" and carries on eating. Now, it may have been a gust of wind, and the one that didn't bolt will pass on their genes which tell their future generations to not be so jumpy, thinking things are there that aren't. On the other hand, it could have been a predator, and game over for their line of genes. The other one that bolted will more than likely always live, and will pass on their genes which tell future generations to panic about any little noise you hear. This line of thinking made it all the way to present day - there's a ghost.

I class myself as an agnostic - no proof a God does or doesn't exist. My wife is Catholic, from a catholic family, and they are real church-goers. As a result, them, and all the children are some of the nicest most kind people you could meet. I see the benefits of this kind of thinking, but that's them, and not me. My wife had a son before we met, and he died of a brain haemorrhage before he was 7. If it wasn't for her religion, which tells her she'll see him again one day, I don't think she would have managed as well as she has. That is a very positive side to religion as far as I'm concerned. But my suspicious side tells me it could have simply been a myth made up long ago to help people who were grieving.

The alien thing, I can only put down to mathematical probability - it's HIGHLY unlikely we're the only the life.

My wife is Catholic and I said something similar about aliens. She thinks the idea is preposterous. I think the idea of there not being intelligent life out there preposterous. I just think we're unlikely to ever meet them. But then again, maybe they created the earth. I could believe in that more than the idea of a god in the beardy guy sense.

The more I think about it the more I am convinced that there is other life of some sort out there. It's just the technology isn't developed yet to reach it.
Or maybe it is! and we are not yet ready for it and the powers above us keep it that way. If it did come out there was contact made years ago would it surprise me! no in short. I don't think it would be broadcasted to the nearest news station when discovered.
As a few mentioned this could creep into religion which is fine if no one gets offended.
My family is all religious so I was brought up that way. But I have found from travelling it does open your mind to other cultures and religions. And i sometimes wonder who is right? or is anyone right? in there beliefs.
I can see where stormcab is coming from also in what he believes. I have listened to many people over there beliefs and I respect them all. I have heard people's views that they believe religion was constructed to keep the world half livible because there is a right and wrong. I have heard people believe its constructed so it can be used to manufacture wars for population control. Others believe it's for fear to control to keep the the elite in power.
And like others here I have had a few hard times but have to keep going forward because there is no other positive direction to follow.
In truth no one really knows and ever will. I will teach my young lad to be good in life and respect others. And tell him that enjoy everyday because life's not a trial run.

On the subject of ghosts/other beings, me and my family have had some weird experiences over the years.

Funny thing is is that I don't even actually fully believe in them but I never rule them out either, but I had one experience quite a few years ago where I was smoking weed in my bedroom late at night ( sure this could be blamed on weed by a lot of people but i'd smoked it thousands of times before lol and it doesn't make you see or feel things ), so I was chilling back on my bed watching telly smoking a fag and was pretty stoned so I ended up falling asleep without realising it. Then I got woken up by someone firmly tapping two times on my shoulder and it made me wake up straight away ( I was fast asleep ), and I woke up fully expecting my mom to be there waking me up to say to turn the telly off but nobody was there and my door was still shut, when I looked down the fag I had in my hand was burning a massive hole in the mattress. If I hadn't have gotten woken up by the tapping on my shoulder I would have burnt my room down, and it def was a real tapping feeling like a finger not just a muscle twitch or something, most strange experience iv'e ever had, but make of it what you will.

Another when I was about 3 or 4 years old we used to live in a tower block, and every day when my dad came back from work i'd hear the door knock for my mom to let him in and i'd run to the door and open and look through the letterbox to grab his hand when he stuck his hand through, I did this as a little funny routine every single day and I still remember it. But one day he came home and knocked the door and he put his hand in and grabbed my hand as usual then waited for my mom to let him in, he came in and asked where I was and I was completely knocked out fast asleep in bed really ill with the flu and my mom said I didn't get up and go to the door because she would have seen or heard me. I'll tell you what though those flats def had something wrong with them, we found out years later that the area we lived in lots of it used to be ancient burial grounds, and I always used to tell my mom & dad when I was about 3 or 4 that I could see things in the flat. The main one was I used to say that a lady keeps looking at me in the hall, and I actually do have a vague memory of looking down the hallway and feeling that something was there, I can still put myself there now and feel that but I don't remember seeing anything. It could all just be silly kid stuff that I made up but again, make of it what you will.

There's also a strange phenomenon called 'the shadow people'.. if you haven't heard of this do a youtube or google search it's very interesting and creepy, people all around the world have seen the exact same thing while in bed trying to sleep of at least one figure ( it's usually three figures ) of a dark shadow outline of a man at the end of the bed wearing a hat with a ridge around it. When it's the three figures it's a tall one in the middle with the hat and another two smaller figures one on each side without hats on, it's only when I found out about this phenomenon around 5 years ago I found out my cousin had seen it before and also my mom who seen this when she was younger but never mentioned it to anyone, until I told her about the 'shadow people'. There's some strange **** out there!

I believe in there being something after life but don't know what.

on the ghost subject I've never seen one and didn't believe in them up until about 5 years ago but for some reason and this has happened abroad and the uk I have been in houses where the tempreture has dropped to freezing in an instant! which I found really odd and also I've had that feelin a few times where someone is watching me or there is something in the room when there wasn't.

my parents never believed in the abnormal and they were type of people that wouldn't take any **** or believe in that sort of stuff but I know they did a ouiji board and the table levitated and smashed against the wall but this was in the 60s and they wwere doing a lot of drugs back then

I keep an open mind on most things, weigh up the evidence and decide from that, in regard to ghosts/ poltergeists, I'm on the fence, again theres a difference between perception and fact, very difficult to explain the unexplainable without hard facts, we then enter the realms of belief.

However, an invisible man once knocked at my door, but I told my wife to send him away as I couldn't see him :?

I think I read one time Stephen hawking believed sending probes out deep into space may not be a good idea. He could be right because he said if it does make contact things could go bad. Which is quite possible also.
I remember when young my mum buying me quest. Did Amy of you guys have it? I always loved when the issue came out about space. I remember reading they sent a satellite out with a map on it showing where it came from. I wonder where it is now. Does anyone remember that? I think the map was printed onto a steel plate with drawings of humans and the surrounding planets around earth.

You mean this one, the plaque on Voyager 8)

Yes that was it! Do you remember 'Quest' I think it came weekly I found it very educational at the time.

The whole poltergeist thing has me on the fence also. At Halloween past I had a few days off so i drove to this place hoping to feel or see something.

It was enjoyable but in the end I didn't see anything to spook me.
I also a few years ago ended up sleeping in a graveyard after a night on the piss because I got lost. I missed the taxi bus because I was looking for a kebab after the bar closed. It was a town 2hrs from my home. I did have a chilly feeling in my whole body. But it was only a result of sleeping on concrete in a shirt. Again I didn't see or feel to anything to scare me so I don't know about the hunted graveyard thing.
There's also lots of old ancient ruins and graveyards around where I live which I have also checked in the dark but again nothing.
I think part of my believes in poltergeist/ghosts but then another part questions why is there no clear pictures or recordings.
