Sure I've asked this before

Does anyone on here have knowledge about planning permission in the UK?

Yeah bud, Its a complete pain in the neck acquiring it... Good luck...

Thats what i'm figuring

My situation is that I'm having to move. But want a place I can extend. Need to know the kind of rules I'd need to follow to know whether buying an undeveloped place is worth it or not

I deal with aspects of it, but the main issue on a residential street is character. Have a look at the other properties and if they've extended it's a safe bet that you can too

Yeah i did that

No one has a dorma.

Also no other house on the street has the space to the side to extend so it's hard to judge. Can do an extension at the back as others have. Hard to judge the rest.

Sounds like a start. Have you given the lpa a ring for advice, they're normally friendly enough.

Been trying to call them for the last week. No one answers!!

Just had another look down the road. Looks like some houses may have had a side extension. Though is may have been a garage conversion.

No houses have dormas though same have clearly built into the loft as they have windows in the roof.

It's frustrating as I need to know for shure what I can do before buying. But at the same time I can't afford to wait too long incase someone eles buys it.

If you can get hold of the local planners number sometimes they agree to meet you to discuss what's possible, no harm in asking. I've done that a few times up Newcastle (Upon Tyne) way. The planners over here literally just tell you to **** off, fill in the forms and apply (and wait 2 years) like everyone else. But over on the mainland they seem to be fairly decent.
