Yes I was relieved when Eriksen scored last night. Brighton aren't the only team to have figured out how to play Spurs, what we are useless at is penetrating a defence, it's hard to beat Spurs but it's very easy to draw with them by just sitting back. Brighton nearly pulled it off. What we really need is either a Hazard who can get in the box, or someone like Bale who can regularly score from 30 yards away. Spurs are great at either counter attacking or end to end football, but the games we struggle with the most are the ones like last night, there is just no creativity.

I also have to say Danny Rose was brilliant last night, credit where it's due, if only he could play that well more than once a season. I guess he played well because there was no goal threat, that's where he always lets us down.

Next he'll be waxing lyrical about Arsenal

 He played well in that game. I still think he's over-rated, he can't shoot for **** and is terrible at defending. The only thing he is consistently OK at is running down the left wing with the ball, but bearing in mind before he took on that role we had Gareth Bale in that position, obviously he's nowhere near as good. We need another Bale in that position who can shoot and get decent crosses in. Or a defender who doesn't give the ball away every time he touches it or gives away three penalties per game. Either will do :)

Actually Assou Ekotto was in that position after Bale moved forward to a free roaming left of centre role. Unlike Bale, Assou Ekotto could defend and if you look back through old match footage was the provider on that wing (and overlapping runs) of around 50% of Bale's goals. A highly under-rated player as opposed to the somewhat overrated Rose. To be fair Ekotto did make a handful of very high profile mistakes in his time and each one of them was points costing, so his fan favourite potential was very quickly lost, despite being an exceptional defender and provider all round. Once a crowd sees a mistake in a player, they are hard to win back round... In teh same era Gomes was branded a clown, yet had one of the better stoppage records and was exceptional at penalties too. Couldn't distribute for toffee though!

Yes good shout, I always wondered why Ekotto just kind of vanished from the side. You're right that defenders (and keepers) mistakes are costly so they are remembered, I don't expect perfection, I just honestly can't see how anybody can rate Danny Rose when I could make an entire DVD of his mistakes from this season, it's not one or two.

I have to agree. Having watched virtually every Spurs game for about the last 8 or 9 years, I've seen plenty of players come and go, and also get to have a pretty good idea of most players' average performances. Danny Rose, IMHO, has definitely been found wanting this season. He gives the ball away infuriatingly often, and has cost us needless goals as a consequence more than once. He tends to hold on to the ball for far too long, trying to dribble passed far too many opposition players instead of passing the ball to safety, and frequently loses possession as a consequence. His crossing often leaves much to be desired, and he rarely puts (or tries to put) the ball into the box early when he does cross it.

When he has a good game, he can be great, but sadly that seems to be happening increasingly less often. I really hope his game improves as I'd love to see him start to play well regularly for Spurs once again. However, as it stands, a couple of years ago Chelski were supposedly considering putting in a £50 million bid for Rose... I doubt they'll be doing that now.

Some title race, you have to hand it to Liverpool and City they have raised the bar this season. (city last season as well) I'm not sure we will see two teams getting close to 100 points again. Both teams deserve the title in my book. I know a lot can happen in the summer, but I really can't see any other clubs getting close next season.

This is the most bizarre top 4 battle (or should I say 3rd and 4th) I can think of. It's literally like everyone is trying not to get those last 2 spots. You could have made a fortune betting on some of these recent results, frankly none of them deserve to be in the CL based on the last month or two. Spurs especially should have had it wrapped up weeks ago.

Have you seen the Dutch league has been postponed this weekend to give Ajax a rest before the Spurs game! Can you imagine that happening in England?

What a result.. buzzing!!! Tottenham away, ****in love it. Shoulda scored three :D 8)

Completely missed it, as I was in the cinema, but had a deluge of messages as we left! Brilliant!!! Looking forward to MOTD 8)

Well, no-one seems to want 3rd place! Spurs were poor in the second half yesterday and paid the price for not scoring in the first half when they were creating a few good chances. West Ham didn't do much in the game either, but Spurs can't really complain when they consistently switch off in the second half of games, and don't up their efforts even if they go behind! I know they might be distracted by the CL game on Tuesday (just as Arsenal might be distracted by their own EL efforts), but it's not like the PL doesn't matter! Jesus, at this rate it will be a contest to see who can drop the most points at the end of a season!

Naitland-Miles is a shockiny player. Makes Eboue look half decent. Arsenal do not deserve top 5. Leicester away would always be tricky but the performance was shocking. We played better when down to 10.

Didn't see that coming from Arsenal, always a struggle down to 10, but as you say Arsenal looked better with 10 men.

City scrappy result and scruffy goal, but 3 pints in the bag very tight now with them and Liverpool, will one of them blink first!

Utd need to put in a shift now and answer the critics, hopefully OGS has done the fire and brimstone talk and they take some pride in the badge today

Madness - Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd all dropping points on such a crucial weekend. I reckon they should give Wolves and Leicester the other 2 spots!

I mean this is honestly just pathetic, people call Spurs the bottlers but do any of these teams seriously deserve to be in the CL if this is the best they can do in the final weeks?

The good news is Spurs now only need one win (or two draws) from two games to guarantee CL next season, but it would feel like a very hollow achievement when the past 10 games form throughout the season would leave them in a relegation battle. And I'm not even sure they can manage it!

Finishing 3rd and 4th has never needed title winning form, hopefully one year it will. I agree it is poor that record you have shown. But all those teams have done ok in Europe, two Europa League semi finalists, a Champions League semi finalist and a Champions league quarter finalist. Apart from Liverpool and City you could say the other teams in the top half have become more competive recently? :?

I don't follow football anymore anyway!
