what about the penalty Spurs gave away (and of course conceded.) Was he possessed or something? Why would any footballer have made that handball? Maybe he's been colluding with Grobellar to match fix?

Agreed, that was stupid. No idea WTF he was thinking.
I still don't get how the penalty Spurs got wasn't offside though.

Chelsea and City aside, this is a great list of teams for the 5th round draw:

1 Swansea City
2 AFC Wimbledon
3 Shrewsbury Town or Wolverhampton Wanderers
4 Millwall
5 Brighton & Hove Albion or West Bromwich Albion
6 Bristol City
7 Derby County
8 Doncaster Rovers
9 Chelsea
10 Watford
11 Middlesbrough or Newport County
12 Manchester City
13 Barnet or Brentford
14 Portsmouth or Queens Park Rangers
15 Manchester United
16 Crystal Palace

It would be really nice to see a couple of the PL teams pitched against each other so there are at least a couple of minnows left in the quarter finals.

Chelsea against Utd do you?
Winner gets to lose the final to City.

Not if Utd win, it will be City v Utd in the quarter final.

Man City aren't the team they were last season, they are in spells but the consitancy isn't there. Not suprising either, to keep that up is impossible. Any other season they would still win the league but Liverpool have raised their level. This season and last are probably going to produce the most worthy of champions for a while.

As for Rafa, how he is still their I do not no, Newcastle would already be relegated without him and I can't believe another club has not given him an offer he can't refuse. Time will tell if they can keep him.

Saw an interesting stat today, Jose Mourinho still has the best Premeir League record for first 100 games in charge. Who would have thought that?!

Agreed. The guy is a tactical genius. Anyone who can win the CL whilst playing Djimi Traore has to be. Okay, sometimes he over thinks things and his "facts" rant did signal the end of Liverpool's title chase that season, but he is utterly wasted at Newcastle. He should be managing a team in the last 16 of the CL not one that was in the Championship two years ago. I think they are currently having to survive by making a profit on transfers each year. That's hardly sustainable, especially when their squad is ****ing shite to start with.

I saw that. It did surprise me. But I guess Jose's Chelsea (the first one) where pretty all conquering. Plus the PL then didn't have all the money it does now. That's not to belittle his achievements, and "yes" Pep has had a few quid to spend as well.
I think there was 3pts in it which over the course of 100 games is probably the difference between a 'good' and 'bad' refereeing decision. Both bloody impressive records.

Did you see the article on the BBC sports page about Jose being an analogue manager in a digital age!? I think it summed him up quite well.

Yes I did read that, really good summed him up very well. I've also read 'The Secret World of Jose Mourihno' which is good, pretty astonishing the lengths he has gone to down the years to do things his way and get rid of players he doesn't like. I'm not suggesting buying it, I borrowed it off a Chelsea fan, so if you ever see it second hand it's worth a read though.

It'll be interesting to see if he can change. If not, football has left him behind. He will still be moderately succesful. Although that will be due as much to the fact he will only take "big" jobs as anything. He has always been a very stubborn man so I suspect he will struggle to accept or realise that his methods no longer work. Wenger was the same with his refusal to buy a DCM or to change from the 'tici taca light' football Arsenal played.

He wont change, just go to a ready made job like you say. Last two or three seasons, get sacked and be £30 million better off for it.

Liverpool 1 - 0 up already!

Only Arsenal could climb in to the top four without even playing

Spurs only 2 points behind Man City! I think Chelsea look like they are in the most trouble, the way Sarri is coming across in interviews, can see them imploding.

Yes it's been a shitty week but for a team of bottlers with no stadium, no trophies, no signings and our two best players injured, being two points behind City is quite an achievement. And they're playing Arsenal next, so it could be an interesting weekend!*

* Except Spurs will lose 5-1 to Newcastle

Yeah strange old week of results. Pool's game was dull as. Leicester played very defensively and rarely attacked, they still created a couple of decent chances mind, and the weather/pitch helped neither side. But if Robertson hadn't given away the world's most needless free kick, against a guy who was going nowhere with 20 second to go until HT....

Sarri's gamble of calling his players out in public always looked **** or bust.
I'd say top 3 are all but assured CL next season, barring any monumental implosions. The other 3 are fighting it out for the final spot. Albeit Arse and Cheslea have the option of the back door EL spot.

Been very impressed by Spurs, there seems a real resilience and I thought injuries would really impact on results.

The test now is can Liverpool hold their nerve, or will we see more results like last night. i don't think a three way race is out of the question but have a gut feeling that City will put a late run together, and Liverpool and will drop off. Definitely a more interesting season than the past few.

Well deadline day was an anti climax. But I guess clubs have started to realise that throwing money at over-inflated players who have no interest in your club does not yield good results. Maybe clubs growing their own talent is starting to catch on?

A good result for Spurs today against Newcastle. They stuck to their task and got the win they deserved in the end... God, it really is good to have Son back! :-D

Spurs up to second!  Ok City have a game in hand, but to think Poch was being questioned a couple of weeks ago.

Fairly convincing win for City yesterday. That's the difference, Spurs make a meal out of games against teams like Newcastle and Watford, while City can just cruise past anyone outside the top 4 (with the odd shock defeat like any team.) So I think they are at least good for second based on their consistency, will be interesting to see how Liverpool do tonight.

I missed the City game, but it sounds exactly like you would expect. Arsenal turn up and try to play footy, they know no other way, and City steam roller them. You have to be ****ing good to beat City by actually playing football. Fra more chance if you sit deep, hit them on the break and get very lucky.

Spuds doing just about enough to get the 3pts. Only saw bits of the game but it looked like one of those that could easily have finished a draw, albeit Spurs were the better/more attacking team.

Pool do anything but win tonight and it will be "Pool choke" or "nerves wrecking Liverpool's title bid" etc etc

You really are only two "bad" results away from a media BS session at the top of the PL. And, almost every time it is complete and utter BS
