Phantom Menace socks

I forgot about these socks I found at the bottom of my sock drawer. I bought these from M&S at the time of the Episode I release. Despite so many being made, there might not be so many unsued in the original packaging. Not that they're valuable, but interesting. Surprisingly, the labels include the date '98,

As they're now 25 years old I think I'll keep them as a 'collectable'. I certainly don't want to wear them!

I remember there was a huge amount of Episode I merchandise flooding the shops back then. In fact there was so much, it was later being sold at bargain prices. I also picked up a Darth Maul rubber head mask, which was surprisingly realistic. I'll see if I can find it. I think they reigned back a bit on the merchandise for Episodes II and III since there was so much unsold stock.

Interesting that the Phantom I merchandise was still being sold for a few years afterwards. I suppose they kept that going until Episode II arrived.

Yep, strange one. Items like socks etc are usually only sold for a few months before they bring in fresh lines.
