Hey Fellas,

Recently sold off a number of boxed vehicles and play sets via ebay, one deal in particular has me a little worried. Ever since joining the forums I've been hearing about one deal after another on Ebay turning into a scam of some sort and I'm a little worried this may be one such case.

I sold two items to an Australian address, that evening I received a message from the winner stating that he is currently over seas and could I please make sure the items are sent registered post to ensure they don't go missing as he's had that problem with other items sent that didn't require a signature upon delivery. No problem, in fact I stated on my listing that all items must be sent registered for the security of both buyer and seller. I then receive a notice from paypal that the payment has been made but they are holding it for 24hrs to review for my own security. I assume that because the seller has paid using an Aussie address but from a different country that they had reason to believe there may be a problem.

This evening I recieved another email from Paypal saying the review is finished and I'm cleared to send the items, here's the email:

Payment Review Outcome: Complete.

Dear ryan,

We have completed our payment review of the transaction below. You may proceed to process the order. Please note however that the payment may still be subject to a subsequent reversal, chargeback or claim. More information can be found in our "Receiving Payments" section, located in our User Agreement. To know if your item may be protected, check the 'Seller Protection Policy' located in our User Agreement.

You may now provide the item or service purchased.

The problem I have with the above is that they say the payment may still be subject to a reversal, WTF!! So if I send these items and they discover it's a scam not only do I lose my items but I also loose my money and pay these incompetent ****ers for the privilege. Then to tell me if I want to know if I'm protected to go an read their T&C, **** off!

I'm intending on calling Paypal tomorrow for clarification and if they don't give me a suitable response I'll be refunding the buyers money and asking the buyer if he still wants the items he will have to make a direct deposit into my bank account once he is back in the country.

Any opinions greatly appreciated,

Cheers Ryan

Ryan I think the chargeback, reversal line is a standard blurb for them. Ive had this on normal payments that haven't been checked or held or anything like that. Ill admit it does sound a bit weird. I would imagine if you send it registered you'll be covered if he tries anything.

I've had the reversal happen to me before. On my account the debit card had expired but the payment went through. When my bank refused it I had to supply another payment method and then it went through fine. The seller was very worried at the time! If it's a scam you should still be covered.

Me 2 on the reversal front I went nuts about it as the ****in item was fake aswel it was a refund then the bitch reversed the refund I called eBay and they gave me the dosh straight back.

Hey Fellas,

Thanks for all the input, I think you're right Chris. Funny how your perception of a simple sentence gets blurred when you something happens to put you in a suspicious frame of mind.

Shouldn't be any dramas as he actually requested signed for delivery, hopefully all goes well.

Cheers Ryan

Don't be to overconfident you cash is safe Ryan, I had them issues a reversal of funds several years ago to a buyer whose account was under scrutiny, turns out they did not have funds in there bank to cover the purchase & I lost both the item & the cash & they would not refund me.
