jwtoyrestoration has a bunch of 12 back report palitoys on the bay, and boy are they hard to tell apart from the real thing.

Comparing the C3PO:-

against my own real 12 back:-

The only thing I can notice is that the corners aren't rounded quite enough and that the hole punch is slightly off. These are going to kill palitoy collectors when they start getting resold as the real mccoy.

Bloody hell. Those are the first genuinely believable repros i have seen on the bay since i started collecting. I'm sure we'll have a chorus of "but he does say they're repro" But these are likely to be resold as genuine and personally i think i could be fooled by them. And i can usually spot a repro from the other room.

Bad times bro. This will put off noobs from getting into collecting palitoy MOC. I guess as the fakes get better, AFA/UKG graded items is the only way to go if you don't have reliable provenance.

Yeah, the corners just don't quite look right, and it looks a bit too glossy. But, at a glance I would have assumed it was real.
Obviously, that comes with the caveat that I know FA about Palitoy (and SW in general) and don't/didn't collect ungraded MOC's, but I can see a lot of noobs getting taken for a ride by some unscrupulous bastard!

No waffle pattern....photo paper used.

Not as good as I first thought then. That will make it obvious when it's in your hands. Still hard to spot from an ebay photo!
