I've never really been into the proof card/pre-production thing much, other than once owning a Stormie Revenge Proof, but I wondered if anybody had ever seen any Palitoy proof cards, especially SW or ESB cardbacks? I think I recall seeing a Jedi one some time ago.

Has anybody got one?

Always thought the Jedi proofs were just unused card stock - don't think they even had the square corners.

Never heard of SW or ESB proofs for Palitoy but then others know a lot more than me.

Yeah like Andy said, the ROTJ ones that were AFAed are unused backing cards.
IF there were actual proofs etc out there i doubt very much the owner(s) would step out of the shadows.

Im of the understanding that zero European licence pre production has surfaced, yet!

Marc is correct.

As such nothing has surfaced so far and that is probably down to the mass destruction of records, paperwork etc following the break up of the company.

The closest I have found to Palitoy made prototypes for example are a repainted Boba Fett 12" figure and some display/ artwork material, but nothing directly related to packaging.

Dave.

was the fett, the one done by tom troy? I know he repainted a fett, and also a 12" threepio, for more realistic look

I thought as much. A real shame that some stuff wasn't rescued from skips a la the famous Kenner dumpsters but I suppose the timeframes would have been different with Palitoy breaking up much earlier and well before the collecting really set in.

a lot of stuff was bought from the factory by collectors, unfortunately a lot of the older collectors dont post on forums, so who knows what is out there! it is also quite possible that people ended up with all manner of stuff, and have no idea what it is worth and hopefully it will surface at some point.
It wasnt that long ago when people were claiming it would be virtually impossible to complete a set of palitoy 12 backs, and no one paid any attention to 30 backs, and look at how much the market has changed now, hopefully daves travelling archive will bring more items and knowledge out collectors and ex workers.

Dave- once photobucket starts working again, I'll post pics of the fett sample, see if its the one you have seen.

When roughly was that? I can remember when i first thought about putting a set of the first 20 together. Sets did exist..at least 3. But it was considered near impossible then, for anyone else to do it. I was quoted prices like Ã'£2,500 for a Luke, with only 15 in existence!!!

That has certainly changed

Be interesting to see what else turns up. There are still lots of potential MOC that are unaccounted for.

It seems a lot of Palitoy MOC's found their way to the US as more and more is emerging there now.

Were 30 backs available for less than Ã'£50 at one time as not many collectors were interested in them? Thats what I've heard anyway.

I got my Luke Bespin 30 back for Ã'£40 about 13 years ago, which nearly isn't as obscene as my mate getting his Trilogo Jawa for Ã'£45 from Offworld of all places

Approximately half of my palitoy 12 back set came from a collector in California via Brian Rachfal in the mid 90's.The 12 back chewbacca cost me Ã'£200 then (probably as Brian took his cut). He sent me a list of about 20-30 available palitoy carded figures which included 20, 30 , 41 and 45 backs among them. Prices varied from Ã'£50 to Ã'£250 for the 30 backs......and I didn't buy them as was only interested in the 12 backs!

My 12/20 back set came from the states, though i bought them from the UK collector who got them from the US.

Funnily enough i met the original American guy who had owned them, at CE, as he was looking at the set on display. 8)

Dunno.

Let's hope they find their way back into the UK 8)

I was told at the time that quite a few made there way via Jim Stevenson and Jason Joiner through to Final frontier toys into the states, who at the time were the only sources of palitoy carded figures. Remember this was before the internet and these guys had the market sewn up.........Large collectors in the states (possibly older collectors) wanted foreign pieces and I would say there are still quite a few over there locked in collections. Where did all the palitoy carded figures comes from that Brianstoys has been selling this past year, I assume a private US collection? My DSC came from a collector in texas and I would say it was the best carded figure I have ever seen, totally case fresh...He still has a 12 back palitoy jawa in the same condition but wouldn't sell it no matter how much I offered him. :(

I remember going to memorabilia a few years ago an Jim having a pile of Palitoy stuff. I couldn't afford any of it at the time  Last time I saw his stall there was very little left.
I think Brians Toys somehow got hold of some factory cases (probably not sealed) but they seemed to have several of each figure (mainly 41 and 45 backs).
When a US seller has a Palitoy fig I often think 'that needs repatriation' It should be a straight hostage swap, one Kenner for one Pali

I think, though can't be certain, that the huge lot that Brian's toys turned up came from a UK collector who moved to the states.

A very bizarre collection. I'd been looking for ages for a 45b HST, and this guy had like 15 of them????
