I remember excitedly waiting for my 'free' figure after collecting name plates, it was part of my childhood collecting/playing I remember sharing with my mum - these were actually some of my more clear memories of getting figures! I remember getting Dengar, the Emperor and Nien Nunb.

As such, I'd be really interested in learning more about them, with a view to starting to collect them.

So, which figures could you get 'free' from Palitoy and which cardbacks and flyers were they advertised on?

45a - Dengar (bounty hunter leaflet - was there a flyer?)
45c/65a/65b - Nien Nunb (flyer?)

But how did we get Fett, Emperor, Rancor Keeper, Admiral Akbar and 4-Lom in the UK?

Does anybody have a ranking for how rare each of the mailers are? Is there anything to look out for - fakes, mismatched baggies, missing leaflets, fake flyers etc?

I'm sure i got emperor and defiantly Akbar twice I think, at the time in the uk from palitoy not sure about 4 lom fett and rancor though

Fairly certain I sent off name plates for the Emperor too. Couldn't remember how I got it but just found this great site

Would the Emperor flyer have been in toy shops too?

just found my original card back for the a ackbar offer on a kenner 48 back emp star destroyer commander with a black palitoy sticker over the revenge of the jedi blue special offer back, :D hope this helps

Got Dengar but the stand out moment in my childhood collecting was waiting for the mail away survival kit - that utility belt was pure gold in my 8 year old eyes.
That's why I have the BH capture log as my avatar - happy memories :D

I sent off for all of them as a kid.

Am trying to do the same thing as you Max.

Frank is the guy to ask

just found four unused capture logs mixed in with my old card backs, got all the usual offers as all my cardbacks are missing there names what vandals we were happily cutting up our cards and boxes , never sent off for the collectors case though must have been the £8 and 6 names

How did they know to give Luke X-Wing that hand so he could slide down the rope in the survival kit

I know that Dengar was on a sticker, as was Nien Nunb, the one I am not sure on is Emperor. I forgot I got the Emperor figure but I think this was off a leaflet rather than a cardback.

I have a few of the store flyers, posters and inpack promos uploaded in my limelight.

The site above shows all the offers as ads in comics. Fairly sure that's how mine would have come
