I bet the workers are kicking themselves if they didn't keep anything. It wouldn't surprise me if there was some interesting stuff put aside by a few.
I'm ever more convinced from what I've seen and heard that Palitoy Vinyl Cape Jawas existed. Here's hoping that one of the workers kept one so we might see the real deal some time :D

On the whole, they were not that fussed with Star Wars as it was an 'import' licensed toy, not home grown. Although Star Wars was one of the biggest earners, most of their pride lies with Action Man and dolls like Pippa and Tressy.

As for vinyl caped jawas, given the timeline of when toys were released compared to the US, I think it's unlikely. Although I'd love to be proved wrong, but when you have collectors (and dealers in particular) who have been trading and looking for almost 20 years, nothing has ever surfaced other than 'examples' with highly dubious backgrounds.

Who knows whether one will ever turn up MOC but I've heard as many say they definitely saw them back in the day on Palitoy cards as not. There is the odd Meccano example about and there was a Palitoy Jawa card with Vinyl cape bubble on ebay recently

A few cloth capes have surfaced with that bubble as well.

I remember seeing a website a few years ago off when star-wars finished there was a lot of millenium falcons left they where melting them down for plastic

I am 50/50 about the existance of a Palitoy vinyl Jawa. I think the existence of flat face vinyl jawa bubbles on Palitoy cards is the greatest evidence that there may be vinyl jawas on Palitoy cards. I have yet to see a vinyl jawa bubble with a cloth cape version on a Palitoy card - of course that doesnt mean that they dont exist, Jawa exists with an R2 bubble on a Palitoy card so almost anything is possible.

I can clearly remember receiving a vc jawa (it was the third figure I got) I have no recollection what card it came on, but since I still have my original figures, and 80% of them have 'hong kong' stamps, I would presume that most of the figures I have came from 'kenner' cards.

I believe that a lot of peoples arguments of them having a palitoy vc jawa, is based on them having the figure, and merely presuming it came from a palitoy card.

I am also open to the idea that unsold figures or figures on damaged cards, on imported kenner cards, could have been returned to palitoy with other figures, and recarded.

Its also not a complete stretch of one's imagination to consider that an unused palitoy jawa cardback has surfaced, and had a bubble and figure from a kenner card attached to it, it's very easy to get a bubble from a card and keep the waffle pattern.

I belive that 3 palitoy vc jawas have surfaced, or possibly two, with one being sold twice? In both cases, I, and other collectors have issues with the provenance of the cards.

that being said, just because a piece shouldnt exhist, doesnt mean that it didnt, just look at the palitoy rf fett, for a similar case.

I'd love to see some detailed pics of the one that apparently sold for about Ã'£5k a while back. Did anyone else see or hear of it? Either the buyer is keeping it firmly under wraps or it was dodgy and shall never be spoken of again.

The recent vc bubble on Palitoy Jawa cardback was 100% original seal but Gary has seen these before. It did come with a vc jawa (the back of the card was cut behind the bubble) but the seller (who didn't normally sell star wars) said it came from a childhood collection and had no reason to believe the figure had been swapped. It proves nothing really but I want to believe :)

is that the one that torres sold? the main problem with that one, is that it was him selling it, put off a lot of potential buyers.
I was very dubious about the way he went about selling it- an ad in model mart for 'a unique star wars piece', then it appeared in the background of one of his ebay sales.
I believe that a few of the well known collectors have seen the piece, and Im sure that the owner is willing to sell it on (last I heard) I think this would be one of the very few occasions that AFA is a good idea.

I saw that a 'damaged card' I believe it was described as, sold via vectis for Ã'£140, am I correct in thinking that this one was then relisted on ebay?

I was told that one had sold on ebay to a well known french collector (arnaud?) for a few hundred? just before xmas.

does anyone know any details?

This is the one from before Christmas. I usually grab a few photos if anything is of particular interest. It did go to France I recall.
