After years of not touching my collection due to it being put up the attic :( it has come to the point where I have realised if I can't see what I have it's pointless keeping it.

However I do want to stay collecting so am thinking of selling off large stuff and buying afa carded early stuff that I haven't got.

The question is, I have a boxed palitoy Death Star. Can only think that ebay is the best place to flog it on.

Should I put it on a Buy it now and if so what price.

Should I just 99p it and let it go for whatever. The loose ones currently range from £300 to £500.

I think it's missing a clip and an xwing gun, the box itself is complete but creased heavily on the sides.

PS, where's best to purchase AFA graded stuff and after seeing the Toytoni con thingy how best am I to re-invest and get back into collecting more finer pieces.

Cheers

Pics will help here mate but I reckon about £400 - £500 for one in a box like the one your describe, could be more but will need to see pics first. Does it have the instruction sheet? What condition are the cardboard elements - there's so many factors that can determine you getting a good price or excellent price on the piece.

Do you have the little catalogue that originally came with it? That is worth £100-£150 on it's own.

Buying AFA stuff will cost you more, but gives you some peace of mind about what you're getting. It's safer than relying poor seller descriptions, blurred photo's, c5's being sold as c11++ etc. Do a bit of reading around, learn how to spot a reseal, research the value of things before you get burned.

If you stick to ebay then only buy from reputable sellers with good feedback - read the feedback, listen to what others have said, don't just rely on the numbers. And don't buy the first thing you see at the first price you see. Patience is everything.

There are some nice items for sale on here occasionally, but AFA MOC's aren't very common. That said, you shouldn't get burned on here with fakes or undisclosed reseals if you go the non-AFA route.

As to the Death Star, haven't got a clue sorry

Ok, will post some pics tomorrow evening, not sure what's in the box TBH. Who on here is reputable to get AFA from.

Cheers for responses.

Bram had an enormous AFA collection he was selling about a year ago but I don't know if he has much left.

Keep an eye on the sales thread though, they come up fairly frequently.

Here it is, missing 5 base clips, and some slight damage, see pics. Had a little play with it after building it up.

Right how do I add pics?

Upload to flikr or photobucket and then copy the link here.

If it's missing 5 pegs you can pick them up about £5 each. Without seeing the damage I'd think £400-500 is about right.

Looking at the damage in places and with recent ebay sales I'm thinking it would be more in the 3-400 range. This one just sold for 462 but had doubles of all the plastic parts -

I do think it's nice though and the box is complete and intact so you never know, it only takes two enthusiastic bidders to get the price up there.

Best of luck with it if you do let it go.

Shame it only has one of the mirror stickers on the base, they are so hard to find still attached, box is intact but as usual it's creased. Missing clips should not be hard to find - has the plastic gunner parts which are nearly always missing, some card damage in the usual places but the trash compactor door and flap are intact which again is hard to find as they're usually torn off.
