Palitoy 12 bacls

95% certain the Luke is not a reseal, just without 'official grading' or a fellow enthusiast to look at it you always have that niggle in the back of your mind. I wouldn't pay serious money for a figure now without inspecting it first - it's amazing how printing techniques have improved these last few years and recards have flooded the market.
Is there any Palitoy boys live near Newcastle-u-Tyne? would love to meet up and let you have butchers at my collection and see if you can see any nasties.

Try and put up high quality pics of the Luke mate as I am nowhere near Newcastle! Would love to have a butchers!!

I'll take some photo's at the weekend, I'm not great with camera but It'll give you an idea.
How do you add previous comments into your replies? I can't see it in FAQ and it's not obvious until someone shows me...

If the seal looks as good as the other you bought, chances are it is sealed.

But definitely get some pics up when you can. If it's glaringly obvious, we'll probably be able to spot it!

hi,

As promised here's some pictures of my Luke;

Here's some frontals followed by the stress line in the bubble top which looks worse in the photo and also a side-on view showing the minor kink in the card. I've then posted a couple of pics of Leia.

I'm no expert, but the Luke definitely looks legit. Can't tell with the Leia but if it's from the same source then I'd err the same way.

I'm sure the other Palitoy experts will have a better clue!

Different sources.
Luke was bought on ebay about 8 years ago, and Leia was bought in the Jason Joiner 'OffWorld' telephone auction about 12 years ago.
Thanks for your comments.

Nothing sticks out that suggests that luke is resealed in any place.

What made you slightly suspicious?

Just the fact I bought it at a distance on ebay and that at the time Luke's were going for £1500+ and got this one for £750.

Luke and Leia look fine to me, nothing jumps out to cause the alarm bells to ring!
As for worrying you got the Luke too cheap on eBay, it can happen that way!
A near mint 12 back Palitoy Leia was listed on eBay around 3 years ago auction style no reserve and it was listed in the correct catagory etc and it only hit £310    I knew the source and it was 100% legit!
Sometimes you can get lucky!

Both of those cards look great but the funny thing is I noticed on the Luke that there is a red V shape to the top left of the bubble seal. That mark is in the exact same place as a mark I have on my reseal - http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13119

It's really hard to see on my reseal and I'll get a tighter shot of it when I can get to it but they must have come from the same run at the printers. I've resealed my Luke with a 12A sealed luke cut card but I can see from your Luke's sabre that your card is a 12B back. The card I resealed my Luke cut card to was also a 12B back so it all makes sense. I always wondered where that red V shape came from and thought it was the owner but it's nice to see now that it's just a printing error.

Good spot! Yes I wondered about this blemish - i thought it was a unique flaw (printer or previous owner) since other lukes on google images didn't have it although you need to get real close to see it so I could never find any good close-ups.
Any other Luke 12B owners got a red V? I'm just guessing but I suppose tens of 1,000's were made so unlikely.
You could tell it was a 12B by the sabre? Were they telescopic on 12A's?

No Palitoy 12 back Luke's all had single telescoping sabres, only the v first Kenner examples were double telescoping!
Can't see how you can tell if it's a 12A or B just by looking at the card front?? :?:

It's because all the examples I've seen of the B back have the sabre cast with a strong vibrant yellow plastic and are rounded at the end where the thinner tip meets it. The A backs I've seen are cast in a lighter yellow and have a flat/chiseled end to the sabre where the thinner tip meets it.

Take a look at yours and see if it's the same as I've said as it would be good to know if this varies at all.

Hi Kingshearer,

I can't seem to add a quote to your last comment but I've just mentioned to Palitoyjunky that It's because all the examples I've seen of the B back have the sabre cast with a strong vibrant yellow plastic and are rounded at the end where the thinner tip meets it. The A backs I've seen are cast in a lighter yellow and have a flat/chiseled end to the sabre where the thinner tip meets it.

This could well vary so it would be good to hear from anyone who has a sealed example that this does differ.

Cheers for your insight Palifan.
