What are everybodys thoughts on these pics? I think its possibly a reseal using the correct bubble. I know its opened at the back but has someone just tried to create a mythical figure/ cardback combination?

Surely it would be on a 12a card like the Kenner and not a 12b Palitoy?? I could be wrong of course

I saw that auction yesterday. Given that it's open, it can never be considered to be more than the sum of it's parts. The vinyl jawa looks okay to me, but I'm hardly an expert on that. The card looks to be a genuine sealed bubble. The bubble used is different to that on the regular jawa palitoy 12 back which has a 1 prong rather than a 2 prong.

Gary would be the man to ask as has seen pictures of the one reported MOC palitoy 12 back vinyl jawa. He told me that it is a 12b rather than a 12a, which is what I would have expected it to be too. He should also be able to say whether the bubble looks okay.

And why would you fake an opened 12-back vinyl caped jawa? Wouldn't you go the whole hog and do a MOC and try and go for the big bucks, rather than a few hunded quid tops?

The seller has a 500+ 100% feedback and sold four 12 back palitoys that were opened at the rear on Nov 30th. The rest of his stuff is all electrical cables and stuff.

Whoever it was, was obviously careful as a kid so they could put the figures back in without them looking opened at the front. As to whether that's better than opening one side of the bubble and sticking it back on is debatable. It certainly knackers the cardback from a cardback collectors point of view!

I thought that but wondered if someone might have tried to swop bubbles to add a bit of value (I'm probably being too sceptical but such is ebay these days).

The bubble is the correct one for a Vinyl Jawa and having looked at the pics there seems to be a waffle pattern. Is this more proof they actually existed? :?

Incidently why do you think a B cardback is more likely than the earlier A given that the Vinyl Jawas were phased out in the US fairly quickly?

I would have thought that vinyl caped jawa would have been a 12a too, and that the later big head han would have been a 12b. Gary said the pics he saw of the MOC vinyl caped jawa was a 12b.

The fact is that all jawas cardbacks so far are 12b's and all han cardbacks are 12a's. I've also still to see a 12a death squad commander cardback too.
