I don't know if this is something that's been discussed before or would be seen as contentious in any way but I'm interested to know people's views on adding extra forums to the site to allow discussion, showcase and sales on SW vintage items that are not toy-related.

I love this site. It's great for everything I want to find out about vintage Star Wars toys (which is its main purpose obviously) but sometimes it's nice to discuss other vintage SW and I also feel a little guilty posting topics about this. I know there are other forum sites but they're not as good or English(!) as this one :)

Any views on this ?

There's no real censorship here just post in the vintage section. Shouldn't be a problem

I don't just collect the toys, I love some of the early press items and promo stuff, cinema tickets etc... I think as long as it's vintage (1977 - 1985) you can pretty much post what you like.

There are modern (POTF2+) and prop sub-forums already, and you're welcome to discuss other collectibles in the off topic area. But I don't really want to start adding Star Trek and Dungeons and Dragons sub forums, this is a vintage Star Wars website after all :)

I think OP might be referring to other vintage SW items, like vintage SW posters, topps cards, letrasets, etc

Far as I know that does happen here anyway, it's called Star Wars Forum so I think any vintage SW merchandise is fair game for discussion.

Oh I see, yes anything SW is fine, but in off topic if it's not related to vintage toys.

I think that's my point though. It's sort of more "on-topic" because it's vintage Star Wars but just not toys. We have an area for Modern but nothing for other SW Vintage.

I've looked at Off-Topic and it doesn't talk about Star Wars at all.

Well it's not really on topic though, the description for the main forum is "Discuss vintage Kenner and Palitoy Star Wars toys from the 1977-1985 era." So I don't think posts about stationery, posters, ceramics etc are appropriate in here. I don't want it to end up like RS which has hundreds of sub-forums for all kinds of random stuff with their own micro-communities where nobody talks to people in the other 'groups.' Also the more you break up the conversation, thew quieter it gets. For example, RS currently has over 20 main top level categories that haven't had a single post this year!

If it's vintage and Star Wars just post discussions in the relevant section. Showcase is showcase. Sales is sales, ect. People post on SW rubbers and comics. All kinds of stuff. Don't see a need for more sections on vintage. It'll end up like RS with dozens of sub sections. Hate that

Anything ? :D
