About a year ago I was finally persuaded by my brother Jr Chubb to join the forum having just regained my love of vintage Star Wars toys. I had always been a fan and had never lost the passion and appreciation for what those films did for me and the many others but I was seriously lacking in knowledge and would always use Jr as my oracle.......... and still do!
Prior to signing up I owned a loose Luke Jedi afa graded figure that I picked up from ebay for about £20 a few years beforehand, I had previously purchased figures and given them to Jr for his collection as I was at that time thinking we could just share a collection, but I then soon realised you cant share SW collections.
In that first couple of months with very limited knowledge I went a bit OTT with the buying, the worst case being a Lando Skiff with no accessories purchased for £2.50 (Ebay), worse still he arrived with melted feet and severe paint loss and was basically a proper beater
Once on the forum I lurked for a while before surfacing and then introduced myself in the wrong thread
I've had a couple of comedy gold moments when I declared on a thread that I owned 2 DT Vaders and 1 DT Kenobi when they were in fact only telescopic sabers   (obviously still had a lot to learn). Also had a great misunderstanding with Skyline when I was duped into believing by my brother that a vintage birthday gift was on its way from him, this was after he was outed as a very unreliable seller
To say my last year has been consumed mostly by SW would be an understatement, my loose collection is near complete and I have a very satisfying collection of Luke Jedi stuff
I spend far too much time on ebay scouring for bargains and am now selling vintage SW to my brother, which is some turnaround
Highlight though has to be meeting Jeremy Bulloch dressed as Boba Fett and have him call my son Jedi scum when he was dressed as Luke Jedi, priceless
And of course thank you to all the forum members who have given me laughs, valuable knowledge, great items and their money to help me reinvest into this addictive hobby, we have got a great community here and one that I am very happy to be a part of 8)
Here's to another year on the greatest SW forum out there
