Ok,this isnt amazing but for £16 shipped for four i didnt do too bad, especially as one is the European version with moulded rear engine and electric button-with dummy compartment.

Im planning to do repaint some of these and do a few display pieces, but id like to know if anyone has any advice for how to build new cockpits. Ive got a small sheet of perspex and was considering building the cockpits from scratch, aswell as the cannons.

Any advice would be good :D

A great project that’s not going to cost you a packet.

Clear plasticard/styrene is easy to use for replacement canopies and various thicknesses of styrene rods are easy to get hold of to make the canopy frame.

Styrene rods can be used to build the cannons too – with plastic pens forming the thick part at the base. The crescent shape at the end of the cannon can be made by cutting a thin vertical slice off of the end of a thick styrene tube (or a felt tip pen) and halving it.

I’m on a mission myself to build all of my various X-Wing kits in one batch but I keep getting bogged down by numerous detail issues – some of them absolutely horrendous.

Craig.
