It's one a day lately! What do we have to do to stop these annoying cunty things? Chip in to make the forum private or something?

We've been through all this. I voted for some kind of system. I don't think a private forum is the answer but there are lots of other ways of doing it. However, the vote was strongly in favour of leaving things as they are so we'll have to live with them.
Also, it's more than 1 a day!

They're persistent little bastards no matter what you do they keep coming, I think we just do what Emiel suggested and ignore them that way the mods can spot them and take appropriate action.

The annoying thing is that sometimes the names look genuine so you go in to read a new post thinking it's a new member and it's just spam, complete waste of time for the users of SWF and the moderators as well cleaning up after them.

Not spam bots but protecting the forum from people coming on here just to sell (both human and bot). It was more based around people posting loads of their private ebay auctions and putting in no other input but spambots were part of the same problem.

I was actually thinking about posting about this exact issue. It's definitely becoming a more frequent occurance, but I think Emiel gets most of them before I'm on, so it probably bugs him more than me.

Is there anything we can do to stop them, without making major changes to the forum set up?

Your reply to the guy posting about engagement rings did make me laugh!

Hi guys,

Sorry for all the damn bots. I've changed the registration form to ask a question instead of the captcha. It's just a simple question so let me know if it doesn't reduce the amount of spam, and I will make it harder.

Cheers,
Edd

And still... They come.
