Welcome aboard - you can check this out for figure/vehicle lists

A small bit of good advice about collecting is to become a regular member of this forum.

All you need to know is somewhere on here.

1. Don't buy incomplete figures, vehicles or Playsets
2. Check the sales section of the forum before rushing to eBay.
3. Get in touch with guys like Iain on forums. Always has great stuff for sale.
4. Beware of fake weapons. When buying figures on eBay always check the figure has original weapons and accessories. Of it doesn't say so on auction ask the seller outright. You'll have plenty of come back if it arrives with repro and the right to a refund.
5. Always check weapons when you receive them. The Imperial Gunnery has a great guides for this.
6. Don't be afraid to ask questions on forum. We all started somewhere. Lots of knowledge and support here.
7. Start a wanted thread in the most wanted section. You never know....
8. Listen to the SWFUK podcast. A summary of what been happening on the forum recently with news and updates on events.
9. Enjoy it. It's a hobby right? It's easy to get sucked in though. Don't spend what you can't afford.
10 If you say any of following be prepared to get flamed:
"what's the problem with Toy Toni's"
"I love U grade AFA figures"
"I saw this guy in FB selling reproduction boxes, they look great. Just bought half a dozen"
"Anyone want to buy my dancing jar jar money box" in the vintage for sale section
"I paid £30 for Dave Prowse's autograph."
"Greedo shot first" :)

Also if your going to start collecting MOC's be careful.
Lots of fakes out there. eBay is rife.

Hi
I had to go into the loft today when i found these, I dont presume that these are the first set of figures that came out, but as i will be collecting on a budget would thise be the best way for me to start out.
I presume that these came out when they re relised the star wars films again.
All the plastic is in mint condition but some of the edges of the card is slightley bent in the corners.

Hi there. Welcome to the Forum. Yes those are from the Power of the Force line released in 1995-1997.

You wont get much love for those on here as they are considered "Modern"

The vintage line 1978-1985 is popular on here.

Those there are worth very little - £2-3 each.

If they rock your boat then go for it. However the main focus of collecting on this forum are is original Kenner run released 1977- 1985 also known as the vintage era.

What you have found in your loft is the potf2 line release in the mid nineties. Essentially the start of the modern era. As we are mainly vintage collectors you will find very little interest in these.

IMO ditch the POTF2 and start a vintage collection.

These I don't see often as they are the tri logo of this time, but still no value difference as they are modern. The only modern series that seems to have some pieces worth money is the 2007 30th Anniversary collection. I have yet to see a complete set go for sale.... I feel like the only one with one lol

Thanks
Ill just put them back into the loft and collect the vintage era
Like i said i didnt even know that they were in the loft.
How do i collect the vintage era on a tight budget though.

Would these be genuine figures ? looking at the price compared to outhers ??? as the change between one figure than anouther

Those are Hasbro "vintage collection" from a couple of years back. Modern figures on "vintage" style card backs.

True vintage figures generally carry a much higher price tag when mint on card (MOC) Unless you have deep pockets these will feel very intimidating.

Most collectors start a collection of loose vintage figures. A straight search on eBay of "vintage Star Wars" will bring back 100's of these. Complete figures can be priced from anywhere between £5 and £40 depending on the character and condition. But as per my previous post beware of repro's.

The "last 17" which were the final figures released in the line carry a higher premium. Yak Face currently commands over £100.

There are also several other main variants such as Blue Snaggletooth which again goes for over £100 in almost every case.

Have a look at threads in the showcase part of the forum for some inspiration.

SonOfJango is bang on, good advice. I don't have huge funds to throw at my collection. I started off collecting loose vintage figures, you can get many of them in mint condition for less than £20. Some are more expensive, if they are a rarer variation or one of the last 17 or just a more popular character. My advice is to educate yourself, do some homework on rebelscum.com and on this forum. You may make a few mistakes and you may not really know what you're doing to start with but gradually you will find your way. Don't go and rush out and buy tons of figures straight away, take your time. I buy figures every now and then when the right one turns up and the odd carded one as a treat. It's a great hobby and I enjoy it more now because I'm not buying every five minutes :D
