New postage costs from the postoffice

I just come from the postoffice and i was gob smacked how much the post has gone up the same item to post has almost doubled before £3.65 and after £6.75 that is for first class recorded this is for a box that only had 1 graded figure. any other postal service any 1 can recommend?
