Hi I am looking at starting collection vintage star wars items, from scratch... Any help or advise where to start would be great Phil

Hi Phil and welcome!

The best advice is don't rush in to it - there are so many pitfalls in collecting. For your first few items, you're best off buying from somewhere/someone reliable (like the sales section right here) so that you don't get over charged or sold a fake.

eBay is the most likely place to get bargains, but due to the above it's also the easiest place to get conned unless you know what you are looking at.

What sort of collection are you looking to build ?

Loose ? Carded ? A focus on a certain figure ?

This is a great place to learn all about the hobby, get advise as to values and condition of figures and generally talk Star Wars (unless it's Weasel !)

Sorry to be a dick but if you are getting into collecting vintage SW you should really know what figures/vehicles originate from which films. I would imagine that it would be required knowledge

Welcome Phil. I've seen checklists on ebay. A good place to start may be the photo archive on Rebel Scum.

First off have you seen the films if so whats your favourite film? Then choose a favourite character and if you cant decide start to build a mint loose set there is nothing better and it suits any budget too

Welcome adidasstarwars, have fun starting from scratch, you have got a steep learning curve ahead but the SWFUK brigade will look after you.

Just remember its not a race, try to buy things 'complete', have a goal and enjoy.
