Hi guys I'm new on here I'm 35 and had all the lot when I was a kid but gave it away my son 9 is mad on star wars so I started trying to get all the old vintage gear and some of the new stuff as well but I'm interested in starting a collection where's best to get it from eBays been about the best so far but eBay in America seems good value for money but I've not bought anything yet I live near Newcastle is there fairs or collectors clubs that meet up to trade the vintage toys. Thanks guys

Hi

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to collecting.

My advice would be to start with some research on figures and their usual prices, accessories etc, then consider;

eBay
This forum...look through the 'for sale' forum
Put up a thread of wants in the 'Wanted' forum
There are various shows such as Memorabilia in Birmingham twice a year (next one is probably around spring)

And ask lots of questions on here.

Welcome to the forum R Toon

In the same boat myself with my own son, just put most of the vintage loose figures together for him & he loves them to bits, so good luck getting a nice collection together for him m8.

Here is a good place to pick up vintage as are the other SW forums, but there are dedicated on line & walk in shops, a lot on the on line ones are based in the US for vintage but there are plenty for the modern toy lines, there is a nice retro toys shop in Leicester & its well worth checking the NEC out when there is a toy fair on.

Why don't you share what you have put together so far in the limelight section as its always a great place to bring your collection to the forum & introduce yourself & your collecting interests.

This is primarily a vintage collecting forum, but there are others that have modern sections.

Happy collecting ;)

Thanks for the replys I've not got anything thats in mint condition I want to know how much to pay for say a mint at at or whats rare I've seen a book I can't think of it's name right now 78-present star wars collector toys I'm sure you guys will know what it is Is it worth buying is any collectors or shops in my area.

Stick to the forums and the fairs mate. Ebay is ok, but it can be a minefield for new collectors. Ebay USA is good, but you face high postage and potential customs charges. If you are not after anything really mint, I would buy a job lot on ebay, but ask the guys here if you want us to look over anything before hand.

Anyway welcome to the boards mate, collecting vintage Star Wars is a lot of fun and there are a lot of great people to get to know.
