Hi all just bought my first place and thought i would Pursue a long standing dream of being a collector of proper vintage star wars. I am very new to this and I have joined this forum for some guidance. Over the past month or so I've bought a tie fighter and couldn't resist a voice activated R2-D2 (I know it's not vintage but he is so cool!!) my friend has just given me his old figures and I am trying to sort out what is good and bad and also figure out what direction I want to go in with my collection. Have a look at the pics below and see what you think.

Welcome Dan,

I would knock the modern loose collection on the head pal. Even tho' i collect modern aswell as vintage, the loose stuff is not gonna be worth a bean. Infact, you could probably sell them on ebay and replace them all with the unopened boxed/carded versions of the same item for the same price as you sell them for! I would also say the same for the action fleet stuff altho' it does look nice when displayed.

Cheers guys, i thought that might be the case with the new stuff. One of the things I love about Star wars is the ships/vehicles so the action fleet stuff is right up my street even though they aren't worth much they still look cool. The old figures are all from a friend who had them in a bag in the loft and herd about me wanting to start a collection and gave me them for free!
Is there any way of improving the condition of the figures myself?

Nice collection, I hope to see it get bigger :D

I hope you find the right direction or directions.

Keep the items that makes you happy :D

Sure you can improve the condition of the figures, You can clean them, you can buy the missing parts, replace broken accessories or replace the figures that you think is not nice enough.

Good luck

Hi Dan

That's a great start and a nice gesture from your friend giving you the vintage figures for free.

Re the vintage figures I notice most are missing their weapons so that is one way of improving them. Also the green lightsaber belongs to the Luke Jedi figure, not Luke Bespin who comes with a yellow lightsaber.

Looking good there Dan, nice start to your collection. Just focus on collecting what makes you happy :D maybe completing a full loose set might take your fancy, plenty of advice on here anyway, good luck with the hunt

i forgot to add the pencil case of weapons/accessory's that he gave me too don't really know what goes with what as you can prob guess with Luke having the wrong lightsaber lol

I think i would like a full set of loose figures its prob the best direction to go at the moment.

is there a reference library that i can look at to give the characters the right stuff?

That is some nice weapons you have in that pencil case

a full set of loose figures, sounds very good
