Hi guys I picked up two of the vader baggies from flea bay, I'm sure some of you guys saw them and they have brought up the question, what are they? I'm a total baggie noob but I do quite like these, the seller had 20+ they all have the same vader varient in them. I have taken a few shots of the Baggie corners and the seal it does have a pattern in it I hope you can see this. I asked the seller where they originated from and he says.
Hi Jimmy! These came from an over stock of the Sears 85 Jedi 4 pack which includes Luke Farmboy, Leia Organa , Han solo and this Vader Baggie. If you google this and similar packs you will see this style baggie. I brough around 30 about 10 years back.
So what do we think chaps?

Franks the man to ask.

I'd always be slight suspicious of things like this as they are so easy to fake - can you tell in hand if these fell like 25 year old bagged figures ?

Good call Iain I will drop frank a pm although in sure when someone posts the word baggie on this forum his 6th sense starts tingling anyway ;) the two I have feel good and look good and they are in great condition but its a plastic bag and I'm no baggie king so I'm not sure my opinion counts for much ;)

Thanks for the link AJ I can't find a bonafide 100% match on this one, Todd your right baggies are always difficult territory I do like these but as they don't match anything I have to say I am a bit suspicious especially as they are unmarked however they do contain an absolutely mint perfect Vader so its not a total blow out.

Best thread on SWF about unmarked ("ESB-H" baggies) is this one: http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=13371

Sadly your Vader looks nothing like any of the ones Frank has in his collection.

Not saying it's conclusive proof that your Vader is fake as the find looks very convincing and overstock baggy finds do happen over the years but the bags do look rather new and unmarked bags can be faked quite easily.

All in all, I would say there is probably an 84.8% chance this is a fake.

Haha well spotted Iain! its not looking good for these, does make you wonder where all the mint Vaders came from to fake these up.

Not a new baggie type IMO.
You can see this type of baggie in Franks link below
The Paploo overstock baggie is identical to this.
ESB-H type baggies can be found in a number of forms as outlined in Franks link.
The Vader figures in this baggie all seem to have a HK removed coo
which would make sense as to why there is no text on the baggie itself.

The seller also mentioned that these came from a find years ago,
of an unused/overstock factory case of 500.

Hi m4 I got the vader down to either hk or a removed HK coo by matching the marks on the bottom of his boot, how did you manage to work it out from just pictures? I think I must be confused by the baggie designations, how can a paploo come in an ESB-h baggie? Or is ESB-h a generic name?

You can have a look at the coo on the back of the leg with a little manouvering of the cape.
Try to move the cape and slightlly bend the leg forward and you should see the leg marks.
I bet you (one of these baggies) that it will be a Hong Kong removed/erased coo. :p
Apart from the no text Clipper baggie for Vader,( which is a slimmer baggie than this one with the seal on the bottom)
all of the no text baggies are classified a ESB-H baggie (which can have a bottom seal, side seals, and this one with a topseal.
As for Paploo on an esb type baggie, some ROTJ and other charecters can come in these baggies also.

No bet I worked it out by the boot, If you look at the boots on a hk coo on the left one there is like an over cast mark by the end by the mostly removed coo its got bigger and develops a distinctive pattern on sole of his boot, so I was down to a very late hk or hk coo removed. Many thanks for the Baggie designation info, I thought wrongly ESB would mean you only got ESB era figures in it and its not.

Interesting baggies James, I did have my eye on them on ebay & know the seller fairly well, Oscar I think has hit the nail right on the head as it being a factory overstock baggie identical to the papaloo one in my ESB-h baggie thread which would make perfect sense as those papaloo's also came from an overstock find some years ago & the seals look to be the same & its a know vintage seal type.

From what I know this baggie was not found in that ROTJ pack or at least not one I have seen to date, but the ROTJ era MP's contained a fairly varied mix of later issue ESB & ROTJ style baggies, so could well be the case, the seller is a genuine guy & 99% of his baggies are genuine, I have bought from him myself on many occasions.

Here is a photo courtesy of Andy's MP thread over on RS of the pack in question & as you can see that one is in a ESB-a style, I hope this proves of some help to you James ;)

Nice baggie :)

I have 2 of there and there Macau made Vaders in plain Macau baggies IMO, to fake these he would have had to take 10 identical Vaders out of the Macau text bags or of euro cards and them put them in these types of bags.

Many thanks for all the replies guys, I have some baggie knowledge but not much, I did like these based on the quantity that the seller had, wish I had bought more now!

Thanks to James I just got a very nice vader baggie from him so huge thanks.

Now the odd part, it not the same as my papaloo at all with bleed off only at one end, so this is the 2nd type of baggie to be found for those 500 figure shipping cases, yet another to add to the guide(s)

Hi Frank sorry for the slow reply been out of the loop as work and the house have been a total nightmare! Glad you recieved old dark helmet and i am glad you like him. So is this actually a new baggie type?
