Hi,

I am new to this forum, and my husband found it by researching valuation on some vintage figures that I've kept stored at my childhood home since the late '70s. I will try to follow the rules requesting any valuations.

I read the "Read This First" post, and both my husband and I have been looking on other sites, and closed/open Ebay auctions to try and determine the exact figures we have and their possible valuations.

We believe that both Luke and Darth are both original double telescoping figures. I'll try to attach the photobucket link codes below. We think the Obi Wan is also an original double telescoping figure, but it looks like the thin extender part has broken off. :(

These were purchased for me in the late '70s by my parents, and I played with them, then stored them at their house. They haven't been out of their storage cases since the early '80s (until this week).

Any valuation advice would be truly appreciated.

I'll drop Bill McBride (DT expert) a PM and ask him to give you some advice Teresa.

I would def. need to see better pics, but the Vader appears to be a standard DT with the tip
stretched out. Please PM me here, or email.

PM sent - thanks!

They look really great! It would be great if you decided to sell on here - I'd love a chance at the Ben and Vader.

Unfortunately the only DT figure is Luke. If you are interested in him, feel free to PM me. Darth is just a regular telescoping figure.

You have them in hand, try and CAREFULLY move the yellow thinnest part into the other part of the saber. Both just looked stretched to me.

I'm nervous to try and take it apart. I can show you that the back of Luke's light saber is hollow, which to my understanding, means it's double telescoping.

Please let me know if my understanding is incorrect. Darth and Ben are NOT DT.

Thanks.

This is in no way directed at the OP. Just a question... what is to stop someone from taking an authentic vintage 1977 figure and just putting their effort into forging a DT saber? Surely such a simple piece of basic plastic would be the easiest thing to counterfeit by today's manufacturing standards? Or is there something on the figure itself that sets it apart and proves useful for extra authentication?

On an unrelated matter... 1977 figures without capes. Can the capes be found quite cheap on ebay, or is there a lot of forgeries going on there too?

No offense taken as the OP, but that's why I'm afraid to sell online. What if I sell, ship, and they scam me and swap pieces out or break it and want a refund and ship back something different? I could say no returns, etc, but you know what I mean? I know it's not worth much but still.....
