The collection's already looking good, and it's refreshing to hear a relatively new collector offering up such sound advice! You sound like a seasoned pro ;-)

I am pretty much in a similar boat, started collecting in November last year having had the figures as a kid, quite a few of which survived. Some of my old ones made it into my mint loose run as they were still in really good nick (Luke farm boy, Leia Hoth, 4-Lom, General Madine, AT-AT commander, Rebel Commando). My 5 year old son now has the beaters and plays with them all the time.
Going to collect the first 12 and have them graded for display, and leave the rest of the collection loose. Will have to get around to posting a pic of my progress at some point.
That would be cool to see but if they are great I would save money by not grading, get nice GW acrylic display cases and then at least be able to hold and look whenever i want and get more figures with the savings! From what I have seen, if you feel their special then why bother on someone elses opinion and save the moneyI did look at grading but its not for me i am afraid. I cannot find my 3 from a child (darth, biker & erg) so great you have so many of your own originals.

My main reason for grading the first 12 is because the collection will be passed on to my son eventually. I want him to have something well presented that he can keep, and I think a graded first 12 will accomplish that nicely. The rest of them he can do what he wants with

I know where your coming from but in the future, the poor fella will only be able to see and hold a case. Quite a sterile affair. Its like your locking them away never to be touched or handled again. He coukd end up smashing them out and casing up himself?
