Its rare to get a phone call off my dad. But I got one at work about 30 mins ago. I answered the phone cautiously and said "helloo?" and he just replied 'vehicle maintenance energiser', which threw me. I must have said 'huh?' to which he said 'star wars'. He was at a car boot and the seller wanted a tenner. It was boxed so asked if he could go back and have a look at it to see if it had the tools with it. It did and had instructions. As car boot finds are rare these days I told him to get it, as I dont own one. Dunno the going rate for boxed complete, prob not much but havent seen decent condition star wars on bootsales since the 90s! He sent me a text after saying its a christmas present. Chuffed! Anyone else have car boot finds these days?

Great to find vintage on a car boot :D

There is a thread on here for car boot finds bud

Don't know value TBH like everything else all down to condition, and box condition, if it's complete and if it's a variant, but for a tenner and you don't have one....job done

Vintage finds are a rare thing on car boot sales these days. Boxed finds rarer still. Plus, a tenner ain't bad. Even back in the day you would be looking at that much for boxed items.

Maintenance Energiser ain't that rare so prices haven't shot up in recent years. Still a nice piece though :)

Nice one 8)

I managed to get two Biker Scouts and a Speeder Bike missing the front vains for £1.50 in a charity shop a few weeks ago. Not often you find stuff in the wild these days. Is it Kenner or Palitoy?

Of all the minirigs, the VME is by far the most in demand. I've been looking for the hoses to complete mine, so I've been seeing ending prices on them. Loose complete ones tend to go for around what your dad paid, so even if it's a beat up box, you're coming out ahead on this. :)

Cheers guys, yeah proper pleased. Looking forward to recieving it. Dunno if kenner or palitoy. Will find out come xmas day! My lady has bought me a falcon for xmas so now so have something to refuel it for flight when I get em both!

I was at a car boot in Kent a few weeks ago... spotted a beater MLC-3 mini rig in amongst a crate of old toys. I had a good rummage and found a Chewie Bowcaster in the box too - bought the pair for £2. I didn't really want the mini rig but felt I was duty bound to 'liberate it' from the box of crap that it was wallowing in!

Walking through a car boot sale is kinda sobering. Piles and piles, rows and rows, of unwanted consumer items. I was just thinking of the original £ retail price of all these items added up - must have been 100s of thousands £. Now you could barely give it away.

Nice one! Good find. Wasn't exactly recently but about 5 years ago I found a 12 inch R2D2 and a Power Droid at a car boot. The R2 is fairly beat up but it's complete with the death star plans. I love it, it's on my desk next to my computer and is a worthy piece because I got it for a fiver at a car boot sale.

Stumbled across a buy it now on eBay which made me think of this thread, it's all eight tools plus part of a laser cannon I think. It's badly listed but I've no idea if it's the right price, I'll pm you the link.

I was at a boot sale about 1993 and was just getting back into star wars from when I was a kid, i bought a few ewoks I didn't have, for pence, with some weapons and a funny staff with skulls on, when I got home I looked in the star wars "from concept to screen to collectable I had just got and realised I had failed to buy the amanaman and barada, they would have only been 20p each, as I had no idea about them, as I was to old to buy the last 17 or even know about them when they came out.
This has haunted my dreams ever since
