Moving collecting habits

Interesting no-one has mentioned Vintage Transformers I thought they were very popular. I guess they are expensive to now.

I was into Transformers as a kid in the mid 80's, prob just as the Star Wars toy craze was starting to wind down I got into Transformers. I think they are some of the best toys ever made, when they came along there was nothing else like that, suddenly you had two toys in one. Brilliant! I have one Transformer I bought a couple of years ago, a G1 Optimus Prime. It's the same one I had as a kid. They are expensive now, on a par with Star Wars. Loose fairly cheap but MOC/MIB well pricey. A MIB Megatron(baddie leader) goes for big money.

I have a soft spot for the Battlestar Galactica and Black hole figures, they're pretty cheap and hold great memories for me. I'd also love to get the Palitoy release of the Mego Starsky and Hutch dolls, and the Denys fisher Muton and Cyborg.

They are great figures. I love the way they just re-use so many of the molds across the figure line. You see the same head re-used with just a slight paint change, or arms cut and pasted. These figures seem a bit ahead of there time. They also don't have any sort of back story, you just got a wave of space ones, or a wave of sea based ones. They are toys that are meant to be played with, and you make up whatever story you want. But I guess that is what fisher price is all about. Creativity.

The artwork on the backing cards is brill also mate

I have recently started picking up Fisher Price adventure people. They are really lovely figures and no one seems that interested in them. There is only about 70 of the figures in total, plus a fair few ships. So far I am just sticking to the figures. None of them come with any accessories, which makes them easy to find complete :) I have about 45 so far, and mostly they cost £1 each. I even have some carded, and a nice carded figure will set you back as little as £5.

Well worth checking out in my eyes. Nice simple figures and some great artwork on the cards.

I have a fair few of these from my childhood with a few vehicles. Alongside he man and Star Wars these would have been my most played with toys. Great figures.

I want to complete a mint loose run of all MOTU figures at some point, still have my childhood toys including snake mountain and castle grey skull but want to get a full set of the figures, loved them, but part of my childhood.

MOTU figures are pretty good as well. I only have a few of them, and for some reason about 15 skeletors! If I see a cheap skeletor I always buy it. He's a very cool looking character.
The face just looks so crazy.

This is a great thread. There are plenty of other collectable toys out there. Lots of us had childhood fascinations and desires for other things apart from Star Wars and we can finally get hold of them now.

I have pretty much stopped collecting vintage Star Wars except for the odd piece here and there. The prices are far too crazy. I’m always looking out for bargains though.

I collect Zoids in a big way but anything that I don’t have is demanding big money. Still, it will take years for me to build/convert the ones that I have now.

There are a lot of other toys that I’d like to begin collecting at some point in the future when I have some extra disposable income and space to store/display things. Cyborg from Denis Fisher is hot on my list and the Japanese Star Fleet/X Bomber toys. I'm a massive fan of Airfix soldiers and I'd love to complete a run of all of those beautiful boxes. I also like to complete my set of Britains Deetail soldiers.

I’m only collecting Star Wars model kits now and toys that can be turned into decent looking models. I recently picked up some of the new Command packs as the solid pose figures are an exact match for 1:32 scale. The new giant Hero Series X-Wing is perfect for action figure scale (1:18) so picked one up along with a Black Series Biggs Darklighter. It’s a dream project to make the toy into a decent looking model. I’ll post some pictures of my progress!

That will be great to see Craig :)

I agree lots of great collectables out there.

It's always great to find something that is still relatively inexpensive.

Does anyone remember Action Jacks? used to love those

Action Jacks and their ancestors, the Mobile Action Command from Matchbox are another of my faves. I used to use their mountain base for my Star Wars figures back in the late 70s.

I suspect that prices will be astronomical by the time I ever get around to collecting them.

Craig.
