Most enjoyable 70s/80s cartoons as an adult

not too long ago i got a copy of the whole droids series on dvd that a guy transferred from his old vhs.........my god they were bad! i have fond memories of ewoks, MCOG,terrahawks, telebugs, denver the lost dinosaur, galaxy high, dogtanian, count duckula, asterix films. i keep meaning too buy MCOG on dvd at somepoint

The boy from space was a feature in Look and Read a schools educational program and yes it was scary as ****. Its on Youtube id link to it but it still shits me up now.

Now there's a blast from the past - Asterix, bloody loved the films, the 12 tasks was awesome! -

& now for your next task you must cross this bottomless ravine by that invisible wire you do not see there, classic!

Anyone remember Lucky Luke?, not sure if it aired here but remember watching it in Germany as a kid & it was great -

Another classic, but aimed at the adult audience was Wizards, made by the same guy that animated the Lord of the Rings & Fritz the cat -

Lotr animated I had on VHS for years before the films were thought up
Ralph bashki or something like that

Reminded me of the animated classics they used to show on tv when I was a youngling and feigning illness to get off school ( when there was only 3channels)

......."when 900 years you reach......."

Old git!

Wizards was where they ripped the idea for the TaunTaun from according to the making of ESB book

How was your sleep

That clip is freaky.... :|

I really liked Battle of the Planet's, He Man etc. I also really liked Inspector Gadget. Does anyone else remember 'Sport Billy' I always thought his sports bag was so cool...

Also remember 'Rock n Wrestling' cartoon featuring all the WWF stars, Hulk Hogan, Rowdy Roddy Piper.... :D

I could sit through most of my childhood favourite cartoons nowadays, although I think that is because I don't want to grow up!

I always thought Dark Towers was scarier than the Boy from Space. The Giant Knight terrified me.

And coincidentally that is the character Peter Mayhew played and you wouldn't have recognised him as he was in an armour suit!

Oh **** now i think i know what you guys are talking about, The show with the orange robot, called Wordy i think. And you watched a mini-movie and read parts of it.
The one you're talking about a suit of armour came to life right? Yeah that was terrifying.

That's the one! Both of those shows. Sitting on a carpet, lights dimmed, too scared to breathe. Didnt help that my school was over 100 years old and was rumoured to ave 2 ghosts!

Look and Read had all those word songs sung by Derek Griffiths.
The stories I remember were The Boy from Space and SkyHunter (about a peregrine falcon).
We too had to all sit on the floor as the TV trolley was wheeled in. We would wait till the lights were out and just star pissing around and crawling about the floor.

Exactly the same here with the TV being rolled in on wheels and 'Miss' telling everyone to be quiet. Remember The Boy from Space as it was scary in parts. The 'Thin Man' is the stuff of kids worst nightmares. The scene where the car broke down on the quiet road known as 'Rabbit Hill' with the Thin Man waiting in the trees is tense stuff - gives me shivers thinking about it.

Look and Read with 'Wordy' was the best schools TV programme by a mile.

I remember the 'Apostrophe song'

Great clip Mumbo, thanks for posting....

Unfortunately it lead me to sitting up unitl 2am watching Stig of the dump.
