More nonsense from eBay GSP

Us buyers pay all this extra money for sellers to sell via the Global Shipping Program, yet it's just a constant headache. Last 2 carded figures I bought from the US via the GSP arrived damaged. I'm currently expecting 2 more figures from the US via the GSP, and today I receive a letter from ParcelForce telling me I have £90.76 import fees to pay. WTF!! I've now contacted the buyer about it. If it says in the details "no additional import fees on delivery" then that's what I expect.

Let's see how this one plays out.

Ii think you better contact eBay, as ebay charges you the import fees in advance with the GSP program and arranges everything.
The "no additional import fees on delivery" is normally related to the GSP, so i think eBay shoudl solve this matter, better give them a call.
This is not the sellers fault imo.

I hate the GSP program and won't buy anything from a seller using that program, its stupidly expensive and i've read lots of drama's about it allready.

As with anything, people only talk about bad experiences. When was the last time somebody came on here and said "hey, this courier is brilliant, my item arrived in one piece!"

Don't be put off by a couple of bad stories, I've bought through the GSP about a dozen times now and haven't had an issue (apart from one delivery issue but that was the courier this end,not eBay.) IMO the seller just needs to realise eBay will inspect and possibly re-box the item, so make sure it is packed accordingly (eg MOCs bubble wrapped in a star case.)

I've told the seller what has happened, so will wait for their response. When you buy something on eBay it is my understanding that all the details are on the listing. If it specifies something, then that is what you should expect. No extra fees should mean just that. Depending on the sellers response I'll see if I need to contact eBay myself.

I'll never use the GPS again either for buying or selling, I sold an item, it was returned for a refund & is not even covered by GSP insurance - what is the point :? I got royally shafted & lost the cash & the item, have never bought via it nordo I intend to, it sucks ass!

Sorry I know this has been discussed before but relevant to today, I just had to pay 24% import fees via GSP based on combined item cost price and shipping charge. I reckon the shipping (which is trackable via GSP) was about £30 cheaper than if the seller shipped to me direct and for the sake of argument, if the seller declared full value I would have to pay 20% import plus £8 Parcel Force handling which pretty much matches the GSP charge. The benefit of GSP is I shouldn't have the usual UK Customs 2 - 3 week delay to contend with and I find less and less Stateside sellers are dealing with the UK unless its via GSP.

Like Edd said, i'm not really a fan of the middle man and their crap repacking but its better than nothing.

I've only ever had one issue with GSP, and that was due to the repacking... They placed my graded MOC into a box only big enough for the graded MOC, so there for having no foam peanuts, nor bubble wrap to protect it (even though the seller had originally packed it with both peanuts and bubble wrap) Surprise, surprise, the figure smashed through the bubble destroying another MOC due to incompetence. Generally speaking, I have used the GSP about 8-9 times with only the one issue.

I also do not use GSP. If people have something for sale and use GSP, then I do not bid on the auction.

I have just not bid on any auctions that have the GSP in place as always ask the seller to send as a $20 gift .

What I really hate is ebay conversion rate, purchased something on the US site that had underneath the £ equivalent and when i went to pay it was nearly £70 more

I've had the same problem when purchasing items from the UK or Australia. The ebay conversion is really off and misleading. It's always a bummer to end up paying a decent amount more than planned. I've started using a separate online converter to get a better idea of the current exchange rate before I bid.

I won't bid on items that have the GSP because Ebay can't seem to repack things very well and then always show up damaged. Stupid ebay!

Well you just couldn't make up what I'm about to tell you.

Just received a message from the seller saying they didn't offer international shipping, and that they sent it directly to me at great expense, so was my problem. After contacting Pitney Bowes, they confirmed that the seller did not ship via them, so they would eventually refund the GSP prices. Well with £80 in taxes for one of the figures, and £90 for the other, this is more in total than I paid in GSP fees. I have now paid for the items to release them, and have opened disputes on both. The seller has just 25 feedback, so my guess is they didn't know to de-select the GSP option, so it was offered without them knowing how the system works.

Let this also be a warning for you wanting to just sell in the UK - remember to de-select the Global Shipping Program option, as it is ticked by default.

So there's an option that takes the money for GSP but doesn't force the seller to send the parcel that way. So they get money for nothing, at least Nigerian scammers are entertaining.

Can I ask, do you always get stiffed on the GSP? I just bought a sealed Bandolier Strap carry case for £10 plus £17 shipping from US. Its about as much as I want to pay even if it is sealed. If I get charged more for import duty I'll pissed.

To give GSP their dues this time - it wasn't through them, so they technically didn't screw up. What they should have done was hidden my address
