More classic Palitoy hysteria!

He even says this himself -

"know its not worth the Buy It Now but I know its rare."

I know it's not worth the price I'm asking................

Prime example of somebody knowing nothing about the hobby! This was properly brought today at a car boot for £1, but because it's Star Wars - It must be worth hundreds of pounds, even though the seller admits it's not worth his asking price, but he knows its rare!!

The price is ridiculous (any idea why the catalog has a price sticker on the back of it, seems kinda random).

As an aside, there was recently a lovely NRFB Palitoy Death Star sold on Facebook with unapplied stickers and contents bags and... it didn't include this catalog. Also noticed that Vectis have a NRFB Palitoy X-Wing for sale which DOES include this catalog.

I had always worked on the belief that the DS cover catalog was found only in the Palitoy Death Star but seems like it might not be as clear cut as that.

I also hadn't heard that this catalogue was available in other playlets/vehicles but I do remember picking up a stack of these off of the counter of my local toy store back in the late 70's. Maybe the store owners packed a few with these items or the one with the x wing was also picked up in store and included with the sale?

I think that prob the kind of thing that happened. It is a bit random, my friend picked up a shop stock condition Death Star a few years ago and there was no cat inside.

It seems to be becoming the fashion to place things on eBay at ridiculous prices with a best offer option.

Yeah very true.

I can see the logic.

You don't know how much something is worth, so place a really high BIN/with best offer on it an see what the average offer is, which will give you a fair understanding of value.

I think though that it confuses the market somewhat. If I saw that BIN I wouldn't even consider reading the description or putting in an offer. OR if in a mischievous mood, I'd put in offers of £1.
