From my experience this was the first thing I bought when getting into collecting mocs and the day after I received them I bought my first vintage 12 back. It just didn't feel right for me but did give me the push to get a 12 back run completed so kind of worked out.
there are a few very high end recards out there for the odd figure but for the most part they don't quite work for me. Just my personal experience and it is how you feel about owning them so I wouldn't give anyone a hard time if it's for them, it really is each to their own with collecting but I'm pretty sure the figures sealed in these things will probably have paint touch ups and repro accessories so do take that into account.

Totally against recards. You can get a decent reseal if you look around for a while.
For me it's the reseal route. Either bought as a reseal, or the fun of creating one yourself with original vintage components. alternatively a cardback with a sliced bubble. Lots of options.
The ESB R2 has a sliced bubble, the wally is a reseal, the TL Sandperson is a really nice reseal, the TL Biker Scout is a card a bubble and figure all separate components I put together and resealed.

Difficult one. For your own use I am not against the idea personally.
However I would say buy the loose and complete original figures yourself and then source the best quality Cardbacks and bubbles once you have the figures.
That way you know the figures are correct and for display reasons it would work and there will be a degree of protection the loose figures don't get on a shelf.
On sites like eBay you can get repro MOCs easy, but there is every likihood the weapons could be repro and figures could be repainted. That won't happen if you buy loose first and if at a later date you rip the ****ers open it's only a few quid wasted.
One question I do often ask myself about the repro MOCS is how Disney / Hasbro don't shut them down under copy right breach ?

I was tempted by a Leia organa repro carded figure for my own to display.
It looked good and an original is beyond my budget.
That being said, like leemcl has said, one can't be sure of repro accessories in the card.
The carded Leia sold for £77. The seller was 99% sure the gown was original. The figure looked good, slightly yellow, but gown was white.
I backed put of the bidding long before it got that high.
I started a thread about this and someone stated that a loose figure from a good seller would be easier to take photos of to get a good look at the figure.
Cant get such good photos in a card and could very well be repro stuff if the card is.
Basically you're paying for the figure; the card is worthless. If you rip open the repro card it wouldn't lessen the value of the figure unless the figure turns out to have repro parts.
Also buying into repro cards and such like is fuelling the whole reproduction market.
Therefore, like others have stated, even if reseals still to be out of budget, I do believe that a mint figure plus an original good condition card is the way to go.

the other issue with recards is the capes/weapons are probably going to be repro too

Moc recards? Are we talking about repro cardbacks? If so they are garbage and should be avoided.
This is no different than Orme and his repro boxes. Granted they may be for your display only but it's putting money into the hands of those who make this crap.
There's an argument for using repro bubbles over damaged or cut bubbles as they keep the thing together, but it's still aiding production.
