My laptop died a few weeks ago Poncho and my brother got my hard drive out and hooked it up to this thing:

Really good piece of kit and he managed to get my entire C: drive off it :D

Plantman might be a good person to ask as he really is an IT wizard

LOL at Pigcity!

Yeah you would be best trying a dock like in the link, but make sure its an IDE/ATA dock and not a SATA as it wont fit,

you can get dual docks off misco for about £40 i think, i have one, if you send it to me ill have a look, just pay for postage and a beer token and ill see if it works.

or get a dock and try it yourself, a quick ebay search brings up some for around £20.

if the HDD is dead then it will cost you a fortune to recover it.

hey plantman
a search like this on the ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=ide+sata+dock&_sacat=0&_dmpt=UK_Computing_HardDrives_RL&_odkw=ide+ata+dock&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

hey pigcity

i wouldnt dream of sending into pcworld. i work for dixons retail (currys/pcworld) and our knowhow department constantly steal information of peoples harddrives. pics movies programs, they even charge £50 for a virus removal and the program they use is a freeware download virus tool lol. so never take your pc into into a pcworld store lol.

Yeah thats the one, i dont think it will last too long but its nice and cheap, i got one off misco for work but it was 40+

so i managed to get a sata enclosure to usb from work! computer finds mass storage device and driver software but thats it, its not in my computer, device manager says it there, but its not in disk management ive tried changing disk 1 to a different drive letter but no joy. is my drive goosed corrupted, should i get rid of the external enclosure and get a dock like you suggested or will i get the same problem????
