It was "Super Hero Day" for my 5 year old daughters class at primary school. I wanted her to go in her clone trooper outfit but she chose Spiderman instead which I'd only recently bought. (I suppose a Clonetrooper isn't a super hero so no Padawan points lost for the choice.)

Anyway I asked her what she did at school and she said they all watched a super hero film. This gave me an instant flash back to my primary school years. Every now and then my primary school would get us all in the assembly hall and put a film on. I don't remember why but may have been a Christmas thing or perhaps we had to stay indoors during a break because of some horizontal Wigan rain. Usually the film would be something crap like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Scrooge, but the flashback sent me back to watching Star Wars (Which is what the 1st film was called back then and always will be to me.) I remember being delighted at being able to watch my favourite film at school of all places. A very rare treat and a change from making the fish tank thermometer change colour by rubbing it while waiting outside the headmasters office. A Star Wars memory that would have likely been locked away for ever, but for it being "Super Hero Day".

Haven't seen one of those thermometers in years. My auntie Maureen had one on her fish tank.

Never watched films in junior school, just those weird info programmes about kids flying kites near to pylons and so on. Grim stuff :? Never flew a kite near a pylon though!

In high school our history teacher put on Life of Brian (if you can believe that!) and Mississippi Burning. Zulu as well. I guess they were kind of educational.

My only memory of them was the temperature was quite consistent in the eighties or maybe mine was just broken!

It's nice when your own children take you back to your childehood some times. :)
