Hi everyone,
I've been looking, with envy, at the RS boards and glued to the big convention - Celebration V. As I live in the UK I think I will have to give it a miss this year.... However I have seen this:

http://www.memorabilia.co.uk/

Is it mainly geared towards getting autographs or is there lots of lovely vintage toys to buy?
Has anyone been before and is anyone intending to go this year? I have never been to a convention, what sort of day can I expect? I think it would be great to share a beer and meet some new people- (especially SWF members!). I think myself and my girlfriend will be going on the Saturday.
All the best, Ed

When I first went (about 2001) it was superb but in the last few years I haven't helped notice that things seemed to have taken a downward spiral. Not sure if any other SWFers feel the same. I know it got bought out and from chatting to a few of the sellers a couple of years ago they were not impressed at all by the new company.

I still go but only once a year - the one in November. To be honest it is superb for vintage carded figures but again, over the last few years the emphasis seems to be have changed to the guests they can hire and the interviews on the stages than the amount of sellers they can get. This really annoyed me because Memorabila used to be the bollocks where you could easily spend a few hours just looking around whereas now you can be done in a hour.

Collectormania at Milton Keynes was for autographs and Memorabilia was for vintage stuff.

I'll be going and Saturday is always the best day to go. Get the early bird ticket and I'd reccommend that you get there for about 8am as the queue can be quite substantial by the time they get the shutters open at 9am (around 2005 you never used to be able to see the back of the queue at 9 but sadly now there doesn't seem to be that many that go)

I always go to the November show, and haven't really noticed that much of a change. The only issue I have is that you can no longer buy normal tickets in advance and avoid the queues.

I only go for the vintage, but there's enough going on to keep my family happy too

Wow, sounds great. Thanks for sharing your experiances. Im mainly buying mocs now so I am going to save up for this event. Do people attending take items to trade? Ive got a load of loose complete figures and some carded that are surplus, do the dealers trade? Be cool If there was a swap shop style event going on!
Im really excited and we are both looking forward to this!
Ed

i used to go regularly and loved it, it used to have loads of SW especially vintage! but I Havent been for a number of years, but plan to go this November

I always go to both shows each year and meet up with a few SWCC members, maybe we should all meet up this time SWCC and SWF peeps :D
Also there will be some NJO members there who i am friends with so it could be one big shin dig yall.
Are yall up for it :?:

I know Gary aint posting much at the mo but he has a cool stall along with Lee Bullock and Dave Tree. Plenty of vintage MOC and very reasonably priced if I remember.

C'mon Gary that's gotta be worth a discount on some Palitoys...

I think Ill be going along in November as I missed the last one. Would be great to meet up with some peeps again like at we did at Earls Court. :)

Sounds like there will be a few folks from here Chris- can't wait!
Ok, Im opening myself up here..... how do people know who each other is? Do people have little badges with there forum id on?! Or wear a yellow flower or green shoes to identify themselves?
How many traders are there selling vintage? Like a dozen or so? Be awesome to see vintage for sale in the plastic, only ever see beater figures at antique fairs- cant wait to see MOC's, MIB's etc etc.
Ed

I'll be going to this in November aswell and will be cool for a few of us to meet up again.

We all exchanged mobile numbers before going and called each other when there.

It's best to try and meet at a certain point in the venue as it's very difficult trying to track people down while on the phone (Ham and Jimmy :D )

As Lee says Dave T, Lee and Gary have a great stall and there are usually another 4-5 vintage stalls.

It can be overpriced but there are little gems to be found. There was a great MOC pick up a few years back....can'y remember the exact details.

I will definitely be there with Dave Tree. Should have plenty of vintage with me.

i should also be very easy to recognise!! :D

Hi Gary, it will be a pleasure to meet you. I briefly heard about your "incident" earlier in the year. I hope your recovering well. Its great you're planning to go to the show. What sort of things do you have on your stand? I think I remember seeing a picture from 2008 or 2009.... There was a sonic landspeeder that stuck in my head! I can't wait for November to come!
Ed :D

Cheers mate.

Just look for the guy with the 8 inch scar across his face.......................................I'll be stood next to him :D

Can't remember what I have but mostly vintage star wars. Been selling of lots of spares.

Gary, that sounds great mate. I will try and have a search for that picture of your stand.....

Thanks for the heads up Stu, that makes sense with the phones. Hopefully there will be some good deals about- TBH I think the prices will have to be keen to get peoples wallets out......... I remember something about a POTF carded Yak face, dunno the price though.

I believe i could find a POTF yak somewhere :D

here's an old thread from the november one

Thats it- thanks Gary. Looks like your stand has had some treasures in the past.... That tri logo Yak is a beaut! The POTF Yoda, Sandcrawler and Sonic Speeder is lovely too! Is it possible to request you to bring certain items (IF you have them to sell of course) nearer the time? Im looking to do a run of US Droids MOC for example. I understand it depends on what you have!
Cheers, Ed :D

sure, just let me know.

Pity you weren't on here earlier as i had a complete set of US droids for sale!!

HI Gaz,
Glad to see you back on the boards! hope u are ok? Will you have a stall at Mem? hopefully i should be attending this one, its been too long :)

Carl
