I was wondering why there hadn't been anything posted about this series yet.
Was it that it's gone under most people's radar, possibly?
Crikey there's not been anything written on here a Star Wars forum, surely that sums up the interest in this?
Was it because it was poor, again a possibility?
Well, lets set the story straight…
I do believe that it's been poorly advertised, a bit like the "new" movie coming out in a few weeks that nobody is aware of. I'm wondering if they want it to be a flop so the next movies that were announced can be slowly and quietly mothballed? The taste for new Star Wars media seems to be very weak at present and I suspect money is very tight, (why is Disney+ now bundled with Sky for half the price of what it was if it's not looking for new subscribers at any cost?). It will be the first Star Wars film that I won't bother seeing at the cinema, I know films are consumed very differently now, and most will wait to sit at home and watch it but come on this is Star Wars and there should be a big build up of anticipation, shouldn't there?
I've watched the 4 Maul episodes available, even though I did so by stumbling upon them by chance, and so far they have been the usual fair.
I wasn't expecting anything ground breaking and I certainly haven't had that, the story is predictable, the animation sits nicely with the story but there's no real excitement…my wife summed up my feelings when she said that she preferred the one with the Clones… "The Bad Batch".
I do think that there could be some great action figures to be made out of this series, if only Hasbro would, which they won't. If they were going to then they should be available now (if there are again I haven't seen any and I'm a toy collector so am looking at this stuff all the time!) increasing the buzz around this series, but I suspect there will be a Maul (an lazy repack) and little else.
On a positive note, I do enjoy Richard Ayoade's take on Two Boots, other than that this is just a forgettable piece of Star Wars, much like the next movie will be…I suspect.
