Master Replicas (Star Wars)

I thought it worth having a thread dedicated to Star Wars collectables produced by Master Replicas in the 2000s.

To kick-start this I'm posting some of the items I once owned. It's a bit sad posting photos of things I no longer own, but then again it can be a good source of reference for others.

I purchased this directly from MR around 2002. I paid about £400 including import taxes from the US. So this was an expensive item, even back then. It was a fantastic display piece. I sold mine on eBay around 2010 for about the same money I paid.

I believe this was the first decent prop replica you could buy. Before this, I'd 'made' my own from a resin cast which I bought from Forbidden Planet (from memory). It's a different story today with many equally good replicas available.

Next up is (was) my Medal of Yarvin which I think was about £100.

I bought this MR Stormtrooper helmet from Play.com which was selling them half-price at the time for about £44 if my memory is correct. Play.com had some real bargains before it closed down. From the box photo it seems I would have bought this around 2007.

A small part of me regrets selling these, but I had a big house move and nearly everything had to go when I moved to Finland.

I also had four of their FX lightsabers, only one of which i did keep and still have is ROTJ.

Nice that they even put the year on the hilt.

The packaging changed on these later versions. The box and packing material seemed less sturdy than their first versions.

This is the ROTJ which I still have, including box and even shipping box. I couldn't find photos of four so maybe I only had the three lightsabers.

No wonder I couldn't afford to go on holiday back then LOL.

Here's a catalogue from Battle Orders which was one of the alternative traders selling MR Star Wars back then. Their 'signature editions' were autographed by the actors themselves and therefore the most expensive. No doubt these remain the most expensive and sought after today.

Following a quick scan of MR Star Wars on eBay it doesn't look like values have increased much ovet the last 20 yrs which surprised me.

It looks like the limited edition lightsaber prop hilts are around £600 and many FX lightsabers are selling for a similar price than when they were new. Stormtrooper helmets around £100, which I think were £80 RRP when new.

I suspect this is partly due to the fact that Disney has reproduced many items which look identical to what MR produced such as the FX lightsabers and even Medal of Yarvin. Not to mention all the other prop makers now on the scene.
