What where the single figure Mail Aways and extras? Where they diffrent in other Regions?

I know Kenner USA:

01: Boba Fett
02: Bossk
03: Display Arena ESB
04: 4-Lom
05: ESB Survival Kit
06: Admirial Ackbar
07: The Emperor
08: Anakin Skywalker
09: A Free POTF Coin (Was this any Coin?)

And I'm stuck.... Do you know of any more and where there diffrent ones for the foreign releases?

I actually have a mailer guide that I've been working on for a few years. Here's my more up to date one covering the U.S. mailers.

Here's the old version on TIG which also covers some of the foreign mailers. I didn't want to use those on my own site where they were contributed by other TIG members, but I have no way of updating that one.

WIth your question on the coin mailers, based on what I've seen, most people received category 2 coins and a small number of category 3. I'm sure some also got the 4 and 5 coins, but it must have been in pretty small numbers.

Brilliant Shawn- thankyou.

Haven't started collecting coins yet, can I ask what is meant by category 1-4 ?

WARNING: Coin Newb.

No problem. There's actually 6 categories. They were created a long time ago with this article here on the swca.

Things have changed a bit since then that I'd shuffle some of them around a little bit. Also, I'd recommend joining up on the coin FB group. There's a good group of coin collectors there that can also help with any questions you have.

Here's another guide of mine strictly on the coins too.

Awesome-AWESOME site!

Great stuff, thanks so much.

Can't believe I forgot the 'Star Wars is Forever' poster since I have one framed on the back of my door.

Thanks!

I wasn't sure if you were just going on offers on the cards or not. The poster was only advertised on T.V. and the shelf talker with order forms. It's certainly one of those items though that I think every collector should own. :)

Grant, Palitoy did a Fett, Emperor, Rancor Keeper, Nien Numb and I think a Bossk? Don't know if that's any help.

The young Jedi knight mail away and follow up intests me.

I have never seen one for sale or outside of tomart price guides.

Are they rare?

What price tag are we looking at?

These days they are pretty tough. Finding ones with an actual mailing address, I'd say are much rarer. A bunch of the sample ones were sold by a former Kenner employee in the late 90's, so they'd be more common, but still don't show up much.

Where the sales are far and few between it's difficult for me to say a for sure price. Based on previous sales though, I'd probably put it in the range between $200-$400. There was an AFA one fairly recently that I think ended up selling for around $600. I can't remember for sure on that one. The one I have came from the late Boba Fisher's Collection. It was addressed to someone with the fisher surname on it and then he stuck his own address label on it. It's a fun piece for me with that connection.

For the followup stuff, I kind of wish I hadn't jumped the gun on it. I found the paperwork/cardback in a random auction. I had no idea what it actually was until I received it, but recognized that it was somehow related to the Young Jedi promotion with the design of the rebate coupon. I decided to ask about it and also shared some of that information with another well known collector. Several years later, I found that one with the bag and everything. That same collector beat me in the auction and it will most likely show up in a book that is several years overdue. ;) I keep hoping another will show up that I will get another shot at. I have all the pieces except the envelope, so I only know of one complete example and then I've seen two more letters and the rebate coupon. The figures with the blacked out POPs aren't as difficult to find. I see a few examples of each pop up from time to time.

I'm throwing all my links at you. Here's one that goes a little more into the Young Jedi Promo.

You can add Dengar as well to that list for Palitoy.

4-Lom and Ackbar were also offered up via mail aways in the UK but I think using Kenner cards with Palitoy offer stickers? I don't think there are any Palitoy leaflets/flyers for either of these two but there is one for Dengar.

This kicks ass.

Just a word on Bob Fisher.

In 1994 I bought a PAL VHS tape of star wars Kenner adverts. At the end it had a news report on bob fisher and his collection. It now on YouTube. It blew me away. I'd watch it over and over again and was an inspiration to collect all star wars vintage items.

What a legend. He was well ahead of the curve. I remember thinking that I'd love a collection like that, and 18 years later- still not even close.

So sad that he passed away recently. I would love to have a piece from his collection. Just for being such an inspiration and pioneer in the vintage star wars world.

Anyway, I'm rambling- cheers for all the info mate. I'm gonna study it when I get home.

A story I will always remember, on the morning I was going to hastings on a school trip, the mailaway dengar came and I took him with me and whilst rolling about on the hills, I lost him, on the coach journey back I saw one of my classmates playing with Dengar and I knew it was mine that I lost so I asked him where he got it and he said from a shop....****ing lying ****, I told the teacher it was mine as got it that day and eventually the kid gave me it back.

Whats the deal with this then? I always thought that this was a Palitoy.

It's definitely a non U.S. version where the baggie lacks the Kenner text and from what I've seen they are usually found with the Return insert like yours rather than the Revenge text. Does it have a mailing label on the other side to help place it?

I also found this thread about the Palitoy stickers on Kenner cards that I thought might interest some.

There is no mailing label or catalog Shawn (maybe a catalog once), I'm not sure if it means anything but I've seen a clipper one with no paperwork and with the same baggie but that box was a slight different size, I imagine that probably originated from Palitoy at some point. Are there kenner versions with the return leaflet as well or are they all revenge?

I don't know if there's a way to pinpoint it specifically at Palitoy then, as quite a few overstock ones exist as well. I believe the Toltoys overstock ones at least had a NSW address imprinted on the box. I can't quite make out the label, but it appears AFA just labels them as foreign.

The majority of the U.S. leaflets are Revenge and then a few with the Return. Some sellers try to put a premium on it having the Revenge text, but I'd say the Return leaflet is the one that is actually more difficult to find of the two.
