Is it possible to get a Made in Taiwan figure on a Made in Hong Kong card???

I recently bought a Tri Logo Biker Scout fairly cheap on eBay. The card was really nice and flat with no marks and the bubble looked pretty decent too. The bubble was slightly lifting but the seller said the figure couldn't be removed. However when it turned up the bubble is only attached by one side and the figure can be very easily removed. It doesnt look like this happened during shipping as the rest of the bubble is very well attached and the card looks pretty perfect so it looks like it was partially opened deliberately to remove the figure. So really its an expensive loose figure and card back!

So of course I have examined the figure to check for signs of play wear that would suggest the figure has been removed and replaced. Apart from some paint wear to the outside of the hand which could have happened by rubbing against the bubble I noticed that the COO is Made in Taiwan however the card is Made in Hong Kong. Do you get Made in Taiwan figures on a Made in Hong Kong card or is this an obvious sign its been replaced?

It's common for Taiwan Biker Scouts to be found on Trilogo cards, I had one too.

Thanks Joe. But how does a Made in Taiwan figure manage to get into a MOC that was manufactured in Hong Kong?

I think the Trilogo card COO's should be taken with a pinch of salt at times, there are all kinds of figure COO's that appear on Trilogos and they definitely don't all match what it says on the card.

I would guess that towards the end of the line, figures were being sent from all over the place to be sealed on cards and as such nothing really makes sense COO wise.

OK good to know so the figure could quite possibly be the original and not swapped.

Just a shame it was opened though :(

Yes mate I'm after anything Biker Scout. Variants, carded, foreign carded, and especially prototypes and proofs :)

Slightly off topic, but have you even seen these cards?

Although not a definitive answer for the text, here is a discussion on it from 2011 - http://forum.rebelscum.com/t1065051/

I still believe it is kind of "proof text" which should have been deleted/changed according to which factory was producing figures but wasn't. It's either that or it just worked for either factory (as they were probably the two largest suppliers of figures at that time).

I agree with Joe on that text. It matches right up with the proof card text on their backs. I'm not sure about other characters, but Luke Jedi, it seems that it is only the 65B Blue Saber Hong Kong figures that come on that card. It certainly has me wondering if they all come from that specific factory.

Yes it's from the 65 back with the ewoks showing, the cards belong to Chief Chirpa and the Stormtrooper.

My 65a Biker Scout proof has that text. I had presumed all 65a proofs had this. So at time of production would they just cover up the text or black it out as required?
