Hi,

I'm pretty new to this collecting and as an impulse i recently bought a 12 back Luke MOC, not in the best of condition but i was pretty excited about owning my first carded figure. I sent it off to UKG and it came back with a 65% rating which I kinda expected with the condition of the card and bubble. Frankly I am not sure the worth of it and whether I made the right decision to grade it so hopefully some of you fine people could help me with a valuation for future reference.

Here it is.

Thank you.

Hi there firstly nice piece, without banging on you'll find difference of opinions on grading on this forum and rightly so, personally I like the graded route but totally understand the other like you said you expected a 65/70 so why pay some one to tell you just buy a nice case if you want to show it. When buying graded I guess you know what your getting but will pay a premium for it. Anyway as guess as I'm not experienced enough for accurate prices an 80 Luke would go for £800+ these days so I'd say yours would be good for upwards of £300. Hope this helps.
Guys tell me if I've got this info wrong.

No idea on value but grading less than 80, unless rare, tends to be pointless. If you want to protect it use one of the GW Arcylic cases instead.

This is my first MOC figure and I think part of me wanted to experience the whole grading process even though my expectations of getting a good grade was so so. Also I had a moment of fear when spending some money on a figure and the grading gave me some reassurance after reading a lot of fake stories. Now my knowledge is a lot better and I'd think differently in the same situation but on a plus it does look great in its box :)

Everything is a learning experience I guess.

Nice 12 back, Luke is probably the most sort after at the moment for some reason. The overall grade of 65 does not tell the full story IMO, the bubble is badly crushed and draws the eye away from what is otherwise a nice example. However many collectors will just look at the grade and considering the fact that a graded example of 80 would go for £1000 plus at the moment I would say this is worth between £400 and £600. Their are two prices for everything now the BIN price and the auction price which is probably the latter being true value IMO and on a bad day would be £300.

It's good that you got a good feeling of reassurance deter grading and frankly it can be an exciting thing to do especially when you get the odd 85% In time you will probably realise than anything less than an 80% is probably not worth it. when I first started down the graded route I sent in an ERG moc with the pop removed, it got a 60 which bugs me to this day as the front card, bubble and figure are mint!

Your in luck ,I know exactly his worth !!! I would say £396 plus postage £7.99 plus grading cost total £430 so in my opinion a 65 grade 12 back luke farm boy under £500 is a good investment ! He displays like a superstar ,Ide buy him back if your selling ! Jason :D
