Lucas Inspiration for SW - John Carter?

There is no doubt that the rumours that John Carter was the Lucas inspiration behind StarWars was John Carter.

The Jedak look very similiar to Yak Face. Perhaps this was very this was the final fig in the line - a tribute to John Carter?
SpeederBikers are used
Creatures looking very similar to the Tauntaun and Wampa are used
Vehicles used in the EP1 Podracer look very similar.
The Genonasis Battle Arena was directly from the Film
Dagobah and Cloudcity where taken from the film
Darth Sidous use of the Dark Side looks very similar to that of a charater in John Carter

Have any of you guys seen John Carter. What do you think?

I saw the trailer and thought the arena scene was shamefully identical to the Attack of the Clone Wars or whatever that shite was called. Why anyone would chose to mimic that god awful movie is beyond me.

The orignal John Carter novel was written before 77 Pete. I have heard that this is where Lucas got inspiration from for SW? :?

Lucas ripped off loads of stories/films for star wars but made something original out of them. Supposedly John carter was an influence (jedis) but so was 633 Squadron for the death star attack.

Not seen John carter, but chances are that the film has been influenced by star wars. You'd have to read the book to know whether yak face is really a rice Burroughs invention, or whether speeder bikes are described.

I'm always amazed at how much Harry potter ripped off lord of rings. There's not much original these days
