After a bit of advice , I'm looking for a display cabinet , most come with halogen lights , are they ok ? Don't want bubbles yellowing cards fading ect many thanks Carl

Would have though led's would be ok. Not so much heat you see.

One suggestion is you could buy a set of white led decorative lights off Ebay. Strip off the decoration (we have some with flowers on :? ). Then ,presuming you have a wooden display unit, drill holes for the led's, push 'em through. Fix them down. Switch on :D Like mini spot lights in Jabba's dungeon!

It's not ideal because this would necessitate some sort of false top on the cabinet to cover up the wires. But it's one easy solution.

My advice is to avoid using large bulbs that generate any heat (obvious), but also avoid leaving any lighting on for a prolonged period. 8)

I would keep away from halogen - the heat they give off is incredible.

I use these LED ones for glass shelving (and consume tiny energy):

or these:

Or if you want you can put trim under each shelf and use LED strips - more expensive but looks good, I wouldn't use it on glass shelves though - more for wooden ones.

Cheers lads I'll keep away from halogen , I've found a real good site that has led built into the glass shelf I will post a link , I might go with these

The led shelving is at the bottom of the page , what you think ?

Another vote for LED. Recently changed from Halogen (damn hot) to Ikea LED and they are almost as bright but give off very little heat, modern LED means you're not really compromising light to get low heat now, pretty much getting best of both worlds.

Shop about, you can buy the clip on leds for glass shelving pretty cheap. I have them on my tv unit - come with a remote to change the colours :)

I've not seen any , you got any links ? Cheers Carl
