Lets all laugh at Liverpool

absolutely crazy - I can totally understand Liverpool taking £50 mill for Torres, he's crocked most of the year anyway. But to go a spend most of it on a player who's not even had a full season in the prem is a real gamble

A gamble sure, but if he leads the line for 10 years and is Englands number 9 it will be well worth it, watch his compliation of goals on youtube, he's a big bugger and yet he can score from outside the box and with his head unlike crouchy.

Plus Liverpool have got two good strikers and havnt spent a penny, they would also have struggled to get any decent striker in the last day of the Jan window without paying a huge premium.

Im pretty happy we got what we could in that short time frame, just wish carroll could play sunday....i dont have high hopes

I agree with Spoons.
£50million for Torres was a good deal. He hasn't looked interested this season and he is pretty injury prone.
I lost a lot of respect for Torres after what he said when he left though. I can understand him wanting to leave Liverpool are a shambles, maybe that's improving ATM, time will tell but the last 18 months ain't been pretty. Granted he probably won't win much at Anfield in the next 2 years (fizzy cups etc don't count*) but no need to **** on the fans who have stuck by/adored him for 3 years. It's not their fault the clubs owners promised him the world and gave him a steaming turd!

Also, and I'm trying to be impartial about this, is a move to Chelsea the right move for him?
Okay he didn't have many option. Pool would never sell him to United (even if they could afford him and I actually don't think United have the money Fergy keeps talking about). Arsenal wouldn't be interested/probably couldn't afford him (Wenger likes them young, and French). City just spent £27Million on Djeko and already have a bucket load of strikers. Spurs wouldn't be able to afford him, or offer him a guarantee of CL footy and a shot at winning some trophies. Barca hardly need him, plus they are 600Million Euro in debt. Real Madrid, I assume, are ruled out on the grounds that Torres captained Athletico for years. So who else is left? Inter/AC/Juve in the dying league that is Seria A?
Still, is a move to an ageing Chelsea team who fell apart last time they tried to change from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 REALLY going to benefit him!? Are Chelsea going to drop Drogba for him!? It's either that or 4-4-2 cos Torres is no winger/wide attacker.

As for Andy Carroll, at £15million he would have been an expensive gamble. At £35million............
Even allowing for the "English premium" (surely an oxymoron, as English/British players tend to be LESS technically proficient than non English/British player) and the fact it was so close to the deadline we over paid by at the very least £10 million.
FFS David Villa went to Barca in the summer for less than we paid for Andy Carroll and Carroll is HALF the player Villa is!

Ok, we haven't spent any money if you look at the net figures, Torres+babel = Suarez+Carroll (roughly) but it's still a huge gamble

*Sorry Spoons but I will still consider Arsenal not to have won anythin even if they win the Carling cup

I had a funny feeling you'd say that, typical Gooner, gets ultra defensive straight away! LOL
No, Liverpool are a joke ATM and have been for 18months, but I think they've won a trophy more recently than Arsenal. Not that it matters.

Carling cup, Charity Shield, European Super Cup and even the Europa league, barely count as trophies as far as I'm concerned.

and I think you meant to say 18 years - or is it now 21 since they last won the league

Everyone's won a cup more recently than Arsenal. The Carling cup is meaningless. When Spurs won it a few years back i didn't give a toss. I fact it's a little embarrassing.

Kenny might be making me look like an idiot here!
So far there is a definite improvement in the team (okay, that wouldn't have been hard) but the result yesterday wouldn't have happened with Woy in charge.

Been very impressed with how Kenny interviews, he takes no crap but as the same time doesn't spout off the usual cliches that managers use. Granted being able to interview well has feck all to do with being a good manager, but he's streets ahead of dear old uncle Woy.

It's still early days on his Managerial appointment, but so far so good.

PS Spoons 4-0 and draw 4-4!? Even allowing for one very soft penalty, WTF!!!!!!

no answer to that

The defence has been great recently too

Just thought id give this a nice bump, maybe we should change the heading now to lets all admire Liverpool :)

The stattos on Sky calculated that we would be second based on form if we hadnt had turkey neck in charge for 6 months.

Same players really, and who would have thought that Jay spearing, John Flanagan would be regulars, plus no gerrard, sold torres and mascherano ect :)

Just shows what a difference a good manager and coach make, we've beaten Man City, Chavski, and Manure, whilst thrashing Fulham, Newcastle and Birmingham recently

well happy scouse i am.

Yeah Liverpool are on great form at the moment. I still think you might end up with 4th. Spurs are laughable at the moment and City are inconsistent. Tho if City beat Spurs tonight it could be difficult.

A draw would leave us 4pts behind city with 2 games to go, its doable but city will have to screw up bigstyle, 5th place is in out hands with Spurs coming to anfield on sunday.

But to say we were 2 points off relegation before kenny took over he has made a huge difference.

And i love the miserable pig face on Torres lol, 17 games and 1 measely spawny goal.

and most of those have been as a substitute HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Wheras Suarez has been a revelation, 4 goals and 5 or 6 assists i think :)

No chance on 4th.

5th will depend on how we get on against Spuds this W/E.

Kenny, and the change in the clubs fortunes since he took over, have amazed me. I didn't think he was the right man for the job, mainly cos he's been out of management for 300 years. But then what do I know!
