I recently bought this sabre of eBay - came with an FB brown hair. The seller says he's got a certificate from a seller in the states saying its a genuine variant 1. I've not been collecting for much more than a couple of years and I'm no expert so if anyone out there can offer advice it would be greatly appreciated!

The shape seems right but the plastic its made of is very hard and stiff so much so its a struggle to place and remove it from the figure- different to any of the other FB's I've got and to DV's and Obi Wans for that matter. The texture is rough consistent with a variant 3 and it sinks in water clatters when dropped.

Thanks v much :)

lol! Its the hard stiff plastic that's bothering me - the figure is nice and I'd like to keep it but if the sabres no good its being returned :)

Thanks for that. Its certainly a highly interesting and comprehensive guide which has perked up my interest in LFB figures. It will definitely be a useful reference for the future. :D

Couldn't see much on repro sabres though so if anyone has an opinion they would like to offer I would be most appreciative. :)

Cheers. Already had a look. The sabre looks like a variant 3 with the rough texture but just plastic seems so much harder than others sabres I've got. It came with a quality light brown no coo figure of which I already have a couple but it seemed like a good buy- cost me £38 all in but its minty other than a few of those factory black spots round the coo. Might just send it to UKG with a spare sabre and see how it goes lol.

Will keep you posted on any diagnosis if anyone has any thoughts in the meantime pls share :)

Sorry forgot about this post. Sent it to UKG Steve there confirmed its right and similar to others hes seen come off cards with brown hair figs so its probably not been swapped around - bonus :D

It did look to be good to me although I'm surprised it sinks in water. I thought all of these sabers would float but some sank if dropped in the water hard or pushed under the water? I'm guessing this is only for the brown haired variant but does it float at all if you place it gently on the waters surface?

Unfortunately it's cased in perspex now so it's a little difficult to answer :? . I cant remember having gently placed it on the waters surface so it may well be that the surface tension would keep it afloat. I'll know if I come across another the same and will let you know if and when.

Cheers :)

Thanks for that, maybe someone out there has the same saber type who could give it go?
