Thought I would share a recent acquisition with the group. Had some issues as this bad boy was AFA graded and encased in acrylic when I purchased it, but the case cracked in transit (very badly), but luckily the display seems to have survived the shards of acrylic bouncing around in transit. I broke it out to save it from any damage.

It's an early bird bin and header. The certificates were stuffed in here when sold at retail. I am getting it cased up again (want to have something to protect it), but here it is in all of it's free glory....

You don't see those every day; in fact, I've never seen one!

Very nice indeed.

Oh man that is so awesome Ross! Great to see it outside of an acrylic case, but I'm sure it will look awesome once it's encased again. Maybe this was you back in the day? What did you do with all those Early Bird Certificates? :)

thanks for the kind words, dudes. I hate to toss around the word "grail" (which is so overused), but as a display collector, this has been on the top of my list for a decent while.

Ross, you don't turn up much but when you do..... That's an amazing piece and it's so nice to see it out of the case. I understand the need to protect it, I just don't understand the need to grade these things if they're staying in a collection. You just need a dozen EB certs to fill it up and it'll look the part....

Appreciate the kind words, and I totally understand the sentiment. I agree seeing it out of the acrylic was amazing, and if I owned an EB cert, I totally would have placed one in there. But for the few minutes I had it cracked out and unprotected, I was worried as hell about damaging it. For that reason, and because there are no other good options for protecting displays other than framing them (which won't work for one like this which isn't flat), I have all of mine cased up in acrylic to protect them. I don't care much about the grade - in fact, one of my favorite displays is AFA 40! :D - but do love the look of them in acrlyc. and they sit much better on a shelf with the bottom of the case holding it up.

First off.... Jez that's one hell of a round up geezer! Well played
Secondly how do I follow that Ross ! That's just a gorgeous piece ..... Congrats and like others have said Thanks for sharing!
Now this recent pick of mine isn't in the same league as Ross's early bird bin header but it's vintage, it's Star Wars and it's mine! My new Grey Palitoy X wing . This will Now sit next to my recently purchased battle damaged Meccano X-wing ! Any ways enjoy but I'm telling yeh's next time I settle down and get signed in to SWFUK and get ready to post on the LA thread ,I'm checking first to see if Ross Barr has put anything on and if he has I'll just leave it !

Amazing condition!! How much did these bad boys cost you and how did you get them can i ask??
It's not really the done thing to ask how much items cost, certainly not publicly and as for where and how I imagine the same as most of us, here, FB, Ebay, contacts built over time, vintage shops, instagram, craigs list, Gumtree etc etc and by saving, sacrificing, trading.

This cheeky chap arrived today from US eBay via Iain. My collecting has been winding down since prices have been getting silly, and haven't bought anything in months. I had some dollars sitting in my PayPal account from photos that I sell via stock libraries. (I used to be an amateur photographer) a few hundred dollars a year still trickles in from them. The sites are based in the US so I can ask for dollars, therefore not lose any exchange rate. As the pound has dived against the dollar, this is a very helpful if I still want something from the US.

I am always on the lookout for a something a little different for a cheap price, and this French/Canadian Ree Yees with some French text on the front was perfect.
