Last Vintage Purchase..............back in the day.

Romancing the Stone was great, good to watch, Danny Devito waking us laugh and that Billy Ocean track too. What more could you ask for...

Rumbelows took the VHS player back soon after this party, I think me and Mumbo spent the morning watching Star Wars waiting for the rental man to come and take it away.

I always liked Clash of the Titans, and even Transformers movie to (I think), got the DVD now, apparently VHS is dead.

You're confusing Romancing the Stone with The Jewel of the Nile which was the one Billy Ocean turned out that chart topping hit for.

I remember going to the video shop with my Dad on a Sunday, if you went at the wrong time there was absolutely **** all. Rows of Crocodile Dundees with the 'Film on Loan' tab sticking out of em, ****ing Mick Dundee twat.

We had a series of about 6 shops we'd try hoping to find a decent film. Eventually we'd come back 2 hours later with some old **** no one had ever heard and then the hassle of dropping it back...

I know you're from Brighton too, I don't suppose the Five Ways video rental shop was one you visited? That's where we used to hire ROTJ from, many many times :) It still seems weird to watch ROTJ without trailers for Cocoon and Chariots of Fire at the start...

Very good Ed I think the Five Ways Video shop is still there.

My brother has taught his 3 year old boy that DVD's are called 'Videos'. It cracks us up when he asks if we want to watch a video and pulls out a DVD.

The last item I remember was a fett no idea what card back but I opened it up and lost his blaster instantly then went real Mardy about it so my dad took me back to smiths toys and bought me a new one haha I also remember getting a speeder bike and a biker scout around this time also and breaking the speeder pretty quick.

You know it's meant to do that, right?

My last was 3 trilogos. Anakin, Imperial Dignitary and A wing pilot. Probably the crappiest figures I could have bought.

Probably no surprise they were the only last 17 left in the store!

Its the same story now, when I go into Toys R Us...

There are currently loads of Mandalrian Police officers filling the shelves...

Trilogo Lando Calrissian (General Pilot) in 1984/85.

Had already started to collect MOTU by then and Star Wars looked pretty desperate at that stage. Final nail in the coffin and to call it a day for me was when I saw those beaten up 2 packs in some shops - they looked **** and IMO still do.

I started my Carded collection about 1989 . Bought about 20 figures from John Menzies when they sold them off in bins.
Still have them including my trilogo Luke Bespin and trilogo Death Star Droid !

mine was a rotj darth vader from a little toy shop in Grantham, must have been about 1985/6. Still vividly remember the wall of Star Wars toys they had...awesome

Only thing i can remember coming into our house from Grantham was my brother's Procraft Karate BMX!!

I think it was Jedi Luke or maybe ERG from back when they were first released. My era was Star Wars (ANH, but it's always been Star Wars to me) and Empire, I was getting a bit to old by Jedi to still be playing with toys ( think I used to hide it from my mates). I didn't get any play sets or vehicles from Jedi either and I think the last action figures I bought were the AD&D ones that I used to mix in with the Star Wars ones. Due to this I missed the who Power of the Force and Tri Logo thing although I do remember seeing them in the local toy shops.

No problem. Now know, its me. But what was the table he was asking about?

Probably the Forest Ranger or Sail Skiff. My dad used to have a big market on his pub car park and there were stalls with bargain bins full of things like that selling for peanuts

Mine was admiral ackbar, thought he was the only one I needed to complete the set loose but it turned out it was general Madine I actually needed( can't imagine why he was the last figure I wanted).
Never got round to buying Madine, but still have the carded ackbar unopened and mint!
Wish I'd bought a better carded figure by mistake.

Well mine was either tri logo Lando General & Han Carbonite from Direct Discount in Heanor or Ilkeston market they were selling 3 biker scouts and a speeder bike for £5. Good memories
