Last 17 arrived: some repro, some genuine weapons. What next

I won an ebay auction for 14 of the last 17, then I bought an original r2 sabre from the same seller.

I was hoping to add this to the latest acquisition thread but.........

I'm pretty sure half of the weapons are fake, the other half seem real, so what should I do?

Obviously I need to contact the seller and tell him, not sure if i should be asking for a full refund or just a refund for the fake weapons. If i only go for a partial refund how do i know that the rest are defo real?

I look forward to constructive suggestions, rather than people saying you knob, you shouldn't buy off ebay!

r2 pop up sabre,: It sinks & is green paint ontop of black!
Romba spear: Sinks
Grey Bow: sinks

Blue palace blaster: Sinks

Real ?
Luke Storm: Black blaster. Floats
Luke storm: Helmet Looks ok (I've looked at a previous thread here & some Imperial Gunnery stuff).
Imperial Gunner: Floats
A wing pilot: Wrong gun for figure, but genuine? Floats
Black Palace blaster: floats

Unsure:
Luke Poncho belt: no idea, feels a bit rubbery. Cape?
Ewok Hats & pouches: No idea
Barada staff: looks ok, but sank
Han Carbonite: assume it is real as no one fakes that surely?

I am an beginning seller on ebay and i wnt to sell all of my star wars vintage collection what i have saved for all these years.

if there are any questions the i will answer them in less the 30minutes. If there are any weapons with my auctions then they are real! when not i will tell (i test them because real weapons float)

if you want you can do a close up on ebay. all the weapons en assecoirres are original.
luke's leg is over time bend. but all the puppets are fully functional and original.

Its really up to you because they aren't 'as described' so ebay will rule in your favour.

If you're happy with some cash back from him to compensate you then go for a partial refund that you're happy with. But then you're left to find the proper ones and they are bitchin expensive for some of those. It's over to him then to decide whether he wants to do a deal. As you've bought a job lot it's gonna be hard to get enough cash back to allow you to buy the proper ones I guess.

If you don't want to get left with them then a return is your only option, but I'd post securely in case he tries to deny you returned them. It's crap ebay doesn't allow you to reclaim postage from the toe-rag.

Have to admit that the EBay stuff does look fake

First think to do is drop them into a bowl of water - any of the weapons that sink will be fake - the r2 sabre looks painted to me so reckon that is fake - I haven't heard of any reproduction like poncho belts and as that one has the three notches then I would say it was ok - I'd want to see a closer pic of the stormie helmet before judging on that

If the guy sold you fakes then ask for a refund - if he isn't forthcoming then open up a case - you are better to keep it vague rather than state the weapons aware fake as eBay in the past have asked for proof of this

Mate, not too sure about your Endor blaster either. Looks a bit dodgy too. Can you post a close up pic?

If I was you I would at the very minimum look to get a refund off the seller for the value replacing the repro weapons with real ones. £20-25/blaster and £30 for a pop up sabre. As for the Ewok weapons I can't say but sure someone will advise you better.

If he don't play ball take the ****er to the cleaners through eBay resolution centre.

Just make sure every time you contact the seller you do it through eBay so they can see you have made an effort to resolve the issue first.

Chris, Thanks for the advice, good points. The cheeky git charged me 24 euro for UPS postage and then they arrived in a split padded envelope with 8.75 euro postage!

Iain, I've done the float test, everything sank except: black palace blaster, small gun, luke storm trooper blaster and the incorrect weapon. I'll do a close up of the helmet.

Jedi Masters thanks i'll do some close ups.

Rebel Runner, if the endor blaster is the tiny gun, then it floats, but close up to follow.

Is the stormtrooper jet black or bluey/black ? The Luke Stormiw should have a jet black one

Those that sunk are defo repro - do the black endor blaster and the black palace have buttons on the handles ?

Hey Paul.

Blue palace blaster def fake, black one is legit. Couple of give away signs, obviously float test, on the blue one there is no small circle on the handle of the gun, which you can see on the black one. Also there should be a tiny raised button on the shalf of the gun which you can see on the black one, but not on the blue.

Having two repro's and studying these for days means I'm an expert!! :wink: :lol:

Luke storm looks jet black to me
black endor has two buttons one side & one and a bit on the other. Looks the same as a real grey blue one, but that only has one button. It sounds the same as a real one when dropped.
black palace has one button per side.
blue palace sinks and has no buttons on handle!
bows sink, my real one floats!
Romba spear sinks and is painted black underneath, my real wicket one floats and is different!
Staff floats, but has one more small button than my childhood one?

If you return them replace an original for a repro and teach the ****er a lesson!!! (get Jedi_Masters to send you one of his black blasters). He won't be able to prove a thing and you will have proof of postage and delivery confirmation. Think it would be best to use the confirmation of delivery as oppose to the signature required option in case he tries to screw you again.

Don't accept partial refund unless it's substantial otherwise it won't cover the cost of replacements.

If you like the figures. Then I think you should find out how much the original weapons that you are missing cost on buy it now on ebay.'

Contact the seller and ask him to mail you the weapons that you are missing or refund the weapons value + a little extra cash for the mail you have to pay to get the weapons mailed again.

Or if you do not like them ask for a full refund + the refund for the mail. He also have to pay for the mail back to him.

Is there still weapons that you have problems with ID ?

Personnelly if I had seen an auction with a light grey bow and a blue palace blaster I would have kept away, these two are obvious repro's so odds on some of the others would be.

Interesting thought, but i'm not going to sink to his level!. The parcel was just left in my porch, so if i wanted to 'get my own back' i could have just left it a week and asked where my parcel was, as it was meant to be sent UPS, which would be trackable.

Thanks. I've got some prices off Iain, as i think i'll steer clear of Ebay for weapons. There arn't many weapons for sale at the moment though. I think i'm going to return the lot, as weapons alone will probably be close to my winning bid!

Walkie, thanks for the reply and the info.

I think the ewok stuff is legit, except the bows.

Since posting i've checked out the carbonite block on Imperial Gunnery, i think it is legit, but still a bit hard to tell.

The photos in the original listing were rubbish, he described them as original, said he had done the float test and confirmed by ebay message they were all original, my bid was after a couple of drinks from my mobile phone, i didn't expect to win. I'll look more carefully in future or steer clear of ebay.

Rebel Runner, well the Endor blaster at is the only one that is 100% legit and correct for the figure.

Black storm trooper gun looks blue/black in daylight, at least it isn't fake.

The other gun that floats is not correct for the figure

The Barada staff floats, but not convinced it is legit, as bows, spear, sabre etc are not real

Luke Storm helmet, i think is real, based on imp gunnery check, but again i've never seen a real one before.

The only other things i'm not sure of now are the capes, which look real, but i've never seen real Lando and Luke poncho capes in the flesh before?

I think i'll ask for £150+ refund (or more if carbonite block is dodgy) and return the weapons or a full refund and return the lot.

Hi mate.

Not to burst your bubble, but if you are not sure I would send them all back and get a full refund. The cost of weapons for these figures are usually as much as a complete figure.

It all depends what you paid really but that would be my advice.

Its just not worth the stress.
