I have just started a lando skiff focus and was interested if there's
anybody else out there who does the same ? And what makes him your chosen character .
for me he is one of the coolest figures and appears in also my fav film rotj.

Jedi,

I don't mean to come across as rude as it is not my intention but do you think it might be time to actually "focus" one a character instead of choosing a different one to collect each week?

So far since joining you decided to focus on Luke Jedi: http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13355

Then...had an interest in Yak Face: http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13424

...and now we are on to Lando Skiff*: http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13736

*In fact that is the second thread you opened on the same topic

I am not entirely sure a focus is something you are best suited to (judging from your recent post activity) as you have changed your focus more times this year than I have in the last 6 years, perhaps you should just go for a mix of stuff and not try to focus on anything in particular?

Focus collections can be cool but they aren't for everyone, not saying that once you choose a character to collect it should be forever but it should at least keep you busy longer than a month.

That is true may friend, but im always changing
My mind of late I just love the vintage Star Wars toys haha.
I do have a very nice set of landos now so going to send
Them to Steve and get them graded then display them.
After that maybe go for a mix like you say, the other thing is
To try and get them on moc or loose so many different
Options! And sorry to anyone that I have p***ed off with
My focus story's piping up all the time.
Merry Christmas

No problem, some times it can be hard to find the right focus. You can also do as I do, focus on all the characters

Do you focus and buy every character moc or loose?
There are so many I like but the moc may be out of my price range.

No I do not, my first goal was to buy each figure loose and each vehicle, beast and playset with box. But my focus changed over the years. So my big focus is loose variants and some smaller focus is all vehicles, beast and playset with box, loose coins, Tri-logo moc, some special baggies with mail box, cardbacks, danish star wars items etc. etc. etc.

But if I was you then I would start with one of each figure as a loose and see how it goes. Then your focus will maybe change in the future and you could try to complete one or more characters with all or only some of the moc or loose.

Some collectors need to try some different focus to find the correct that makes them happy :D

I know the feeling I also want a lot of items and some items is also out of my price range. But it takes years for all of us to get all the items we want :D

Thanks pomse love hearing about people's collections and interests
Yes a loose collection would be good!
tho there is the grading option aswell but that
Would get very expensive.

Thats my goal for 2013, to get as many of my loose mint figures graded by UKG for my collection and to pick up specific graded MOC for my display as well :D

Nice goal to aim for there! hope you achieve it
And would love to see your collection at some point on here.
There are some awesome displays on the limelight page Im
Like WOW !!

No probs mate, wasn't trying to be rude I just thought you might want to rethink the focus thing that's all, look forward to seeing what you have put together for the figures you have collected though so don't forget to start a couple of limelight threads when they come in from UKG!

I've heard people say that you dont find a focus, the focus finds you. It's frequently a strong and obvious desire to collect a paticular character because of a connection to that figure or perhaps you've just acquired a few really interesting pieces and you want to expand on that. So if you are struggling to find a particular character to focus on then Joe is probably right - a focus might not be for you. Although there is nothing wrong with having a few or several different focusses if the desire is there. I collect POTF prototypes, rare variants and have justs started collecting Palitoy ROTJ MOCs not to mention my vintage star wars erasers for when i just need something cheap and light hearted to collect :)

I do have my small collection up on a thread in the limelight section, needs updating soon really, keep changing it around  I actually have one on my at at commander focus, thats no more, aswell. As the lads have said here take your time, enjoy starting out in the collecting.

If a focus grabs you so be it, I jumped in a bit and found out it wasn't for me at the moment, to many other pieces kept catching my eye :D

Look forward to seeing how your collection grows either way
