Ok guys you can call me crazy... but hey. As Mr Tree asked me to do a presentation on Kubricks for the next Farthest show it got me thinking. Loads of fans it seems put out books for fans and as of yet there is nothing out on Kubricks, most people just confuse them for Lego. So...

This is a VERY rough idea of where I was thinking I might go so please ignore all the things like graphics, this is literally something I've cooked up in 5 minutes on Publisher. As the Kubrick line takes a huge amount of its cues from the vintage line I was thinking a book that celebrated the link, so rather than just a page by page count of each Kubrick figure, show the vintage figure along with it (might get a bit stumped on some but for the most part I think most of them are there).

Any thoughts?

I honestly think that Kubricks are crap. They look awful IMO. :D

But I like the idea of linking the figs. Perhaps to the actor may be better than the vintage figure?

I really like this idea and the comparisons. I do layouts as part of my day job and really like the way youve done this referencing the vintage fig

I for one keep on seeing "Kubrick" stuff on the various forums and Ebay and the subject completely baffles me.
I don't know anything about Kubrick. I just get the Clockwork Orange picture in my head when i see the word Kubrick!
It doesn't remind me of my childhood etc but i would be extremely keen to hear a presentation on the subject at FF4.
The presentations during FF1 & 2 were great.

I think what you have done looks great. Best of luck to you.

PS. What decade are they from? Seriously i'm clueless :?

Lol they started in the early 2000s and are still running. Thanks for the comments guys, really appreciate it, and pig city thank you ever so much, glad it's looking good! Any ideas the best way on getting this published and out there!?

These Kubrick Figures are done by a Japanese company called MediCom Toy right? I mean if it isn't then their bootlegs

As these only available in 100%?? It would be cool if they made the Star Wars one in 400% & 1000%

I have a couple Kubrick's but none are Star Wars related.

So back to topic because I don't want to get a final warning :? Love the idea to add the vintage figure also, the layout is also very good. Wish you luck on this project. Please keep us posted.

Thanks dude will do, think ill tidy the page layout slightly then it'll be writing it and taking lots of pics.

They've done a few 400% ones, I've got the Luke and Han in stormie gear and vader in that scale, you can also get fett, black stormie, c3po and tc14

This is a great idea and you've made a cracking start. I too like the cross referencing to the vintage figures as it adds more depth to the whole thing.

Would be great if this lifted off for you and it gets published in the big wide world 8)

Thanks dude, well spoken to Gus and as long as I put a disclaimer and all the pics are mine or by some friendly helpers the book will be fine to publish... So looks like this thing is a go!

Ok couple of quick questions for everyone... Hardback or paperback? Obviously higher cost with the former...

And second, carded kubricks? Already this is shaping up to be a big book and I only have two carded as I'm more of the loose collector. Would people want the carded in or happy with the series and box sets?

Trying to get the brain sells working on the carded Kubricks Spooked :p

Are there any Kubricks that you can only get carded? - Blue Stars Snowtrooper springs to mind, just thought of another Hologram Leia, and Jorge Sacul

So I would say they need to be included

There are quite a few yeah... Think I may do a few page spreads them as one don't have them and also just the loose and boxed has taken me to 230 pages!

Thought I'd provide an update. Text is all done up to series 9 chases. Had my light tent, lights and everything delivered yesterday so thought I'd do a quick test with the camera... after some editing....

really pleased with how this is going! Hope you like!

Great idea, love the cross referencing with vintage.

As you say, these figs do get a lot of love, I'm not really a fan of Lego....that's just me...but like the ku bricks

The book is a great idea, hope it comes off for ou buddy best of luck :D

Great idea Spooked, I have always liked the Kubriks but not knowing anything about them, I have stayed clear. Will this book be avaliable to buy at FF4???

I always prefer hardback, but then it does depend on the difference in cost.

I would say if you have the time and knowledge, put the carded in.

Hmm, they look OK i guess. I thought they were Lego :? Can't help thinking that there are so many Star Wars lines now, it's getting daft. Another way to look at it would be that at least there's something to take everyone's fancy at different price levels.
